I was in the area durring Katrena and know for a fact how the WTS "helped" victums of the huricane. The home owners would have to turn their insurance checks over to the relief committee (if they got a check) before the brothers would help. Then the R&F brothers would do the work. The society would buy the material in bulk and pocket the rest of the money. It seemed to me at the time, and I was an active witness then, that the relief effort was nothing more than a fund raising effort.

If the Jehovah's Witnesses are Jehovah's only chosen people and Brooklyn New York is the capitol of the kingdom, why is the Catholic Church the custodian of the ancient Biblical text manuscripts, and why are the manuscripts located in the Vatican at Vatican City?

If the Jehovah's Witnesses are really not political and they are not involved in government, why do they hold the record for a religion trying cases in the judicial branch of government at the United States Supreme Court level?

Jehovah's Witnesses claim they opposed the German Nazis. What was the nature of that opposition? Was it religious? Or political? The 1974 Yearbook says: "A resolution was adopted and about two to three thousand copies were sent to Hitler and his government offices in Germany." Was this a religious resolution? Or a political resolution? If it was religious, why send it to government offices?

"Are any other religions politically neutral?" Yes! Baha'is are forbidden to participate in partisan politics. That the JWs are in volved in the UN does not make them partisan, just hypocrits! The UN and its affiliates are not technically "political" in that there are no party affiliations or such divisions between political or economic systems. All countries can apply for membership and be represented in the General Assembly providing they agree to the principles adumbrated by the UN Charter. carmel

This is a typical example of how many of the cults reason with people. You might want to read this article that deals with why their reasonings and assumptions are incorrect.

As far as I know, all relegions (with the possible exception of right wing evangelical Christian groups and extremist Muslim groups) are politically neutral. Individual members of most churches are free to take whatever political stand or adopt whatever political beliefs they choose.

The Episcopal Church in the United States has been referred to as "the Republican party gathered for prayers," but that's tongue-in-cheek, of course, as that particular church is very open and liberal theologically, politically, and in most other ways in general. It's about Jesus, not suppression of individuality.

The next time I see a church official, I'll ask which political party his church is allied with.
