The WWE canceled its live "Monday Night RAW" card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.
Has anyone heard or read about this case. This wrestler(Benoit) murdered his wife and child and then hanged himself. Their bodies were found Sunday.
I'm outraged at this and more outraged at the fact the WWE could give this scumbag a tribute. The victims should have the tribute, don't you think?
I've heard about it. It definitely sucks and I hate it happened.
Can you confirm that that is what happened? I hadn't checked up much on it today.
They gave the tribute in ignorance of what happened. The WWE didn't know the full details as everyone else.

ATLANTA - Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, a law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

they were saying on the radio it was possibly an extreme case of roid rage. what was surprising to me is that people still watch wrestling.

I agree. The WWE is shameless in its self-promotion, and used its prime time broadcast to invoke reverence for the presumed murderer. I think they should have just cancelled the broadcast and given the 3 hours back to the USA Network.
BTW they were going to use this broadcast to probe the staged "death" of their founder/CEO Vince McMahon. They had to quickly change the subject to deal with the REAL deaths of their former champion and his family.

The WWE did the memorial tribute to Chris and his Family when they were still unsure as to what had happened or why they were all dead. It was originally thought to be a murder of the whole family. It did not come out until today that it was a Murder-Suicide.
This has truely mad me sick on my stomach since finding out that Chris did this to his wife & 7 year old son!! He was, again was, my favorite wrestler, but after finding out he had this evil within him, I no longer have any respect for him and sure as hell will not memoralize such a monster!! I don't see how anyone could do this to their spouse, let alone a little innocent child!!! Nancy should have followed through with the divorce she had started back in '03 instead of going back to him.
We just saw him at a live tapping of Smackdown Last Tuesday night in Charlotte. When Chris came out to the ring, I told my husband he had this wierd look about him, and then less than a week later he does something like this!! It is definetely chilling...
It had to be steroid or other drug use that caused him to snap, that's my thinking anyway..

Who knows what the WWE knew? From the news accounts, they know more than they're currently allowed to say. Other wrestlers reported getting strange text messages from Chris Benoit on Sunday morning. Then when he didn't appear at the pay-per-view event on Sunday, they were the ones who alerted the authorities.
I agree that 'roid rage seems to have been involved in this tragedy.
