This is my first post in a while due to problems this side, but does anybody know where I can buy some brown leather material, the kind you find on the leather bibles and diaries etc? I want to manually bind a book in leather.
Does anybody know where I can buy some brown leather?

Hewit looks like a good start. I dont recommend purchasing from South American companies. They skip or shorten the tanning processes which results in leather that can smell bad.

You can buy hides at furniture stores
and sometimes they will give away the samples of leather.
some leather samples I have seen are large enough for a book.

Ebay will always have leather scraps at very good prices.

Yes, those are all good sites. I have just ordered some samples, thankfully they don't seem too expensive.
