I don't like to use the word "cult" in describing some religions. However, all religions have cult-like ways. We have to be careful who we call cults, because one could say what Jesus started was a cult.

Let me think here for a minute ,mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm this is a tuffy ...... NOT . This is a mind control cult rivaled by none . You cannot critique the leadership in anyway shape or form , you must obey every word that is print and considered the currrent "light". They will tell you what to think , what to wear, how to act ,how to run your life, make you sell publications and spend your spare time brainwashing other prospective members. The church itself does not supply buildings , they have some real estate scam where the members are suckered into paying back loans to the headquarters , at one point members were suckered into paying for publications they were supposed to sell to the public .

Some folks, many are former JW, like to avoid the word "cult." They say it just fires up
controversy, and virtually any religion can be labeled as such. I prefer to explain what a
cult is, then apply it, so that people will be alerted. As a matter of fact, I skip the word
"cult" and go right to "mind-control cult."

If you say "high control group" the JW's will say they need high control. They will say
that the high control is just setting Jehovah's standards in place. The term has little
    impact.

If you explain in today's common terms, yes there is controversy, but it makes
the point nicely. The easiest terms I have heard are these:

A mind control cult uses deceptive recruiting techniques and coercive retainment practices.
This is easy to prove with Jehovah's Witnesses- Recruiters leave out vital information about
false/failed prophecy, changing doctrines, what happens to those that leave the religion.
Retainment includes forcing families to shun those that leave, implanting fears in the
members that leaving will cause their destruction and will lead to sexual disease, drug abuse,
    drunkenness, and poverty.

Most Organized Religions are Cults. If remember hearing people in a Christian Church how they would be afraid of Not Being a Christian. Go Figure!
