Huh? I thought you always choose your own name here at JWD. God does love you.

Usually, when you sign up for a forum, you have to enter your chosen username and password at the time you sign up. It is totally possible that there was a flubup somewhere in the program where your username was not properly registered and the forum gave you one that you did not pick to access the board. This is one that is quite rare, and probably requires the attention of the administration who should be able to fix it. At the very least, they should be aware if a computer error was at fault so this will not happen to others.
On the other hand, it is possible for an error to be your fault. If you make a typo while selecting your username, that typo will be there for every post unless you fix it before finalizing it. That happened to SnakesInTheTower--he typed in "SankesInTheTower" instead of "SnakesInTheTower". There might be a way to fix this: likely, it would require the help from the administration. If worse comes to worst and you cannot tolerate your username for some reason, the final solution is to close out this account and open another one. Of course, that would make you start from scratch on your post count, and existing posts will still be under the old name.
