Jehovah no longer has a "PLAN" humans make plans, Jehovah now has a "PURPOSE".

Hay Watchtower! When some.one has a plan they have in mind to do something, hence, they have a purpose. Here is what Jehovah plans to do, he wants to Resurrect mankind from the dead. This is what he has in mind, this is his plan of all plans, this is his purpose!

Watchtower stop the word playing game! Using different words does not make what you write any more truthful than cutting and pasting from one past article to the next.

    Thanks for the lesson Blondie.

Interesting take on how "RELIGION" at the Yankee stadium was not a sudden change.

"This viewpoint on the use of the word religion was not suddenly adopted by the Society."

They had been using different terms for several years previous -

This is a shining example of how the WTBCS sneakily changes over time preparing the way for apparently "NEW" light.

Like the 1935 business. At one time they said the door to the heavenly hope had closed in 1935.

I first suspected a change when the WT said that from 1935 "greater emphasis" was put on the earthly hope. And now this years questions from readers.

Of course as they said above - this is not a sudden change, and those who read the publications carefully will not see it as such.

For those listening carefully in 1993 it was obvious they were getting ready to dump the generation teaching. In fact they prepared the way in a WT that said since 1914 we "are not living in a period covered by chronology" Thus preparing the way for this years statement we will just have to wait for as long as it takes.

It is also obvious that they are gradually shifting to dump 607.

    Thanks Blondie for that quote!!

The Watchtower author does NOT explain why anyone should look forward to experiencing what a future recreated body will experience.

It is nice that a future body with my imprinted memories will enjoy life forever, but what does that have to do with me?

The Watchtower will NEVER address this question, because it will show that their explanation of the resurrection is only an empty hope.

Meditating--oh, yes, WTS approves of meditation but their definition of it.

*** g00 9/8 p. 21 Meditation That Is Beneficial ***The psalmist David recognized the role that meditation plays in pleasing God. He stated: “The mouth of the righteous is the one that utters wisdom in an undertone.” (Psalm 37:30) Yes, meditation is an identifying mark of a faithful worshiper...Clearly, we have many reasons to engage in deep, concentrated thinking about important things. It is vital to reflect on our past experiences, ponder over current matters, and thoughtfully contemplate our future.
*** w83 7/15 pp. 29-30 Watch Out for This Deceiver! ***Particularly problematical is yoga-type meditation. Some may point to the fact that the Bible, too, encourages meditation. However, Christian meditation is an active meditation, pondering on upbuilding and beneficial matters. (Psalm 63:6; Proverbs 15:28; Philippians 4:8) Yoga-style meditation is something else. “The soul’s essence, pure intelligence, is obscured by mental activities, whose suppression is the main purpose of Yoga. The mind is to be controlled by constant practice of meditation and nonattachment to material objects. The ultimate result is the suppression of all mental tendencies, conscious or latent.”—The Encyclopedia Americana.
Is such emptying of the mind healthy? One practicer reports that during one extended period of exercise and meditation, he felt frequent attacks by invisible forces. The demons can take advantage of a mind that is empty and fill it with their own thoughts. (Luke 11:24-26) So beware! This practice could make you their prey.

Sometime before I stopped attending regularly, during 2003, there was a WTS book which was released at a convention either that year or a few years before, and I can't find my copy. Anyway, there was a paragraph on meditation (the WTS way) how to meditate and what to meditate on, mentioning 4 categories. Their statements on meditation was another reason why I decided to leave. Does anyone recall this book?

Thanks, Blondie for another good review of the study article!

They started with a quote and so shall I (not from the WT)

"Faith, as well intentioned as it may be, must be built on facts, not fiction--faith in fiction is a damnable false hope. "- Thomas Edison , the man who invented the light bulb.

That is what this resurrection belief is - a damnable false hope! When I read it now it seems like a fairy story, but of course for the biggest part of my life it was very real to me , as natural as believing that tomorrow follows today.

I am not dismissing The Bible as fiction, and we know what the scriptures say, but the WT spin on the scriptures - the whole New World and earthly hope that is what now seems to me to be a fairy story. I used to maintain the hope of greeting my Mother back from the grave...........

The way the article is written seems like a ploy to maintain "integrity" to the Borg , come what may.

p14. "Satan wants you to be so terrified of death that you would willingly barter your integrity for some hollow promise of safety"

They use the belief to lock the gullible sheep into a life of servitude, always putting off the important life changes in the belief that service briefly now is an investment for eternal life in Paradise.. I got news for you .. It ain't coming!!".. Dont put off what should be done today, you have threescore and ten years so make the most of them before it is too late and you get old and "The dust returns to the earth just as it happens to be and the spirit itself returns to the true God who made it . Eccl 12. vs 7

    Damnable false hope..Bah

I talked with some jws the other day. They have been jws about 30 years but not raised as one. Every comment on illness was, "the end is soon, I don't have to worry about that," as if chronic illness were the purview of only the aged. Of course some people think 55 is old but if you are 55 and facing a terminal illness, 55 seems young.

Many jws thought the end would be here before they had to face the illnesses of aging and are now stunned that they and their contemporaries are starting to age. What did they think, that they would be like Dorian Gray and have the signs of their sins on a painting in the attic?

Where is their faith, facing death if need be, in the resurrection...no, as they said, "we were promised that those living today would live right into the new system and never taste death." Are they in for a big surprise!

They are re-studying the Revelation book which has 42 mentions of the GT. Also, don't forget euphemisms for the GT, such as the great day of God Almighty, Jehovah's day, etc.

Walking by faith helps us to shun fleshly views that the end is far off or is not coming at all. Unlike skeptics who make light of Bible prophecy, we discern how world events line up with what God’s Word foretold for our day. (2 Peter 3:3, 4) For example, do not the attitude and the behavior of people in general give evidence that we are living in "the last days"? (2 Timothy 3:1-5) With the eyes of faith, we see that current world events are not just history repeating itself. Rather, they form "the sign of [Christ’s] presence and of the conclusion of the system of things."—Matthew 24:1-14.

    12

Consider an event in the first century of our Common Era that has a parallel in our day. When on earth, Jesus Christ warned his followers: "When you see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies, then know that the desolating of her has drawn near. Then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains, and let those in the midst of her withdraw." (Luke 21:20, 21) In fulfillment of this prophecy, Roman armies under the command of Cestius Gallus laid siege to Jerusalem in 66 C.E. But the armies withdrew abruptly, furnishing the signal and the opportunity for the Christians there ‘to flee to the mountains.’ In 70 C.E., the Roman armies returned, attacked the city of Jerusalem, and destroyed its temple. Josephus reports that over a million Jews died, and 97,000 were taken captive. Divine judgment was executed upon that Jewish system of things. Those who walked by faith and heeded Jesus’ warning escaped the calamity.

    13

Something similar is about to take place in our day. Elements within the United Nations will be involved in the execution of divine judgment. Just as the Roman armies of the first century were designed to maintain the PaxRomana (Roman Peace), the United Nations of today is intended to be a peacekeeping instrument. Although the Roman armies tried to ensure relative safety throughout the then known world, they became the desolater of Jerusalem. Likewise today, Bible prophecy indicates that militarized powers within the United Nations will see religion as a disturbing element and will act to destroy modern-day Jerusalem—Christendom—as well as the rest of Babylon the Great. (Revelation 17:12-17) Yes, the entire world empire of false religion stands on the brink of destruction.

    14

The desolation of false religion will mark the beginning of the great tribulation. In the final part of the great tribulation, the remaining elements of this wicked system of things will be destroyed. (Matthew 24:29, 30; Revelation 16:14, 16) Walking by faith keeps us alert to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. We are not duped into thinking that any man-made agency like the United Nations is God’s means of bringing true peace and security. So, then, should not our way of life demonstrate our conviction that "the great day of Jehovah is near"?—Zephaniah 1:14.

An elderly JW once told me yrs ago (and now I believe it) that the WA form of meditation is self hypnosis. At the kingdom halls there is the constant buzzing of the microphones and equipment, the speaker droning on, the question and answer period where your eyes move back and forth at a constant pace.

At home you are told to meditate on the WA literature, again, staring at something or closing your eyes and visualizing statements in the WA. All are self hypnosis techniques.

So if you are facing illness and death, meditating on the resurrection will get you back under the society's control five times per week. That's why no Sunday mtg and that's it. Its five meetings per week to constantly enforce the WA doctrine and enforce the hypnosis.

This study I think is proof of how deceitful and cruel the GB is. JWs have died due to WA policies, not because of what Jesus taught in the scriptures.
