The next week roled around, and I had a Service Meeting part on - guess what? Field Service. I went up and stated that no human has the ability or the right to decide if one is doing enough in the ministry; that only Jehovah and us alone could decide this. I remember the look on the Service Overseer's face when I was giving this part. He looked like he wanted to kick me in the groin. Needless to say, my part went over like a lead baloon. Not one elder told me I did a good job, later. This was a major defining moment for me in my career as a Watchtower employee.

If there were or was more brother like you, the sheep would feel almost human.

I remember giving a BiHis on the Song of Solomon. I just went on and on about how much the two loved each other and really expressed it- not being cold and calculating with each other. Someone came up after and said, "What a great illustration of the remnant!!" I gave them a look like "say what??!!" then I said something like- "Its even better if you just take it for what it says."

when i was 'in' i would include quotes from punk bands like social distortion and the dead kennedys in my talks, but make it legit, like, 'a man named mike ness once said that, yadda yadda yadda, something re: the political climate or something'....that was always a blast and my roommate would completely drop his jaw b/c he was the only one who knew exactly what i was talking about.

btw, great thread, it's great to know there is some sanity at times inside the org.

When I conducted the Draw Close to Jehovah book I didnt mention pioneering, bethel, or any of those stupid "privleges" because that was not the point of the book. I even hit heavy on the Jesus sections and I know I sounded almost born again (it was a phase I was going through when I first began to doubt) and nobody said a word about it. When I give parts its all from the bible as much as I can make it so.

    Nice comments.

Interesting what we all did - and that we are all out, eh?

One of the last talks I gave, on Proverbs 8, was to read it exactly for what it said, pointing out that, despite the WTS's applying this to Jesus as wisdom with Jehovah at the creation, it is actually a WOMAN who is being personified as wisdom - Sophia.

Whoa - caused a bit of a stir, and the next week the school overseer made a point of reading the Soceity's application of this to Jesus.
