I meant to stoop so low as to allow them to be a publisher in the first place. It seems like many here started out very early as well, i just hadn't seen that before in a congo. Knowing they're so young and the fact that a publisher that isn't even baptized is treated just the same as baptized ones. It's almost like they really don't know just exactly what they're getting into.
I'm sorry, and for someone who gave his life to the lord at age 3 and a half, I'm the LAST one who should be talking but will say this. A typicial 3,4 and 5 year old has a difficult time deciding on what their favorite Sesame Street character is, do they want crust on no crust on their bread, and what their favorite color is let alone deciding on trying to become a Pioneer.
At 5 yrs old I stood on the sidewalk in the cold and rain under the Kress Co. awning next to my Grandfather with a canvas "Watchtower" bag around my neck. It almost touched the ground. This was in Eureka, California in '49 -'50. They encouraged me to get baptized at 11. Of course, I prayerfully considered the seriousness of the dedication commitment and decided to get the tattoo.
A child that is read to often will learn to read and write early. My youngest was reading on a 2nd grade level in kindergarten age 5. But would I expect him to quote the bible or be baptized or even go in field service? HELL NO!!
He wasn't raised JW, just had a mother, father, and 2 older siblings that read to him from the time he was born!

If the child chooses to quit publishing at 5 would he be shunned?
Immagine if around the age of ten, he began to ask his mom about the New System; asking where they will get the petroleum to fuel the needed tractors, or who is going to manufacture the scissors that will be needed to cut people's hair. Suppose he shows signs of skepticism - will he be marked for apostasy? That would be a hoot. A ten year old marked by the group - like something you'd see in the book Lord of the Flies.
I was a child star at the ripe old age of 6..I had a pushy JW Kingdom Hall Stage Mom...OUTLAW
