Do zealous dubs think they will be blessed more?

As a dub, were you under the impression that the more you served the Watchtower Org., the more God would bless you in the new system?

The more you were involved serving God as a JW, the more blessings you'd receive in the new system, or were you under the impression that everybody would be blessed equally, no matter how much they did, as long as they survived Armageddon.

Could this explain why some are more zealous than other in the Org? thinking they will blessed more than those who did less.

I started off thinking that way. I eventually realized that God wasn't going to bless me in this system or the next one. I realized that no matter how much I "exerted myself vigorously" I would still be lucky to get a chunk of swampland in the new system while the elders and asskissers had big estates.

No. I was probably influenced by my fundamentalist early upbringing by my grandparents. We used to sing a song at church that included these lyrics:: "Just build me a cabin in the corner of glory land." Throw low self-esteem into the equation, along with being female.

Then the Society came out with the doctrine that elders would be "princes" in the new order. Well, whoooopeeee! Those who exalted themselves would be more exalted. Making princes of the elders I knew would not add up to paradise.

The problem is that GB wants the average JW to always do more to serve them. For example, its not enough that a full-time confidence trickster aka a pioneer to make 70 hours, that person needs to make 70 hours and have over 40 rvs and 1 or more studies to be productive. There are no blessings to it other than ruined lives and broken relationships.

At this year's assembly day, the formula that was hammered home in nearly every talk was...

    Sacrifice leads to blessings !

A man was out made redundant... he was offered a job, but it's hours conflicted with meetings !! So he refused it.... Guess what? He received "blessings"

All the "experiences" of sacrificing time to go out on the ministry were met with this question from the "link man"... "What blessings did Jehovah give you afterwards?"

No, I do not believe their zealousness is motivated by selfish reasons. As an active JW, I find more often than not that it is just the opposite. Many of them seem to have very deep seated feelings of self hatred. Many of them have a hard time feeling "loved" by God, so they keep manically trying to do more and more. Of course, the WTBTS capitalizes on their emotional fragility.

The old joke in our neck of the woods was "You'll get an extra day of eternal life".

Holy hell, when did that happen? I have been out of the org. for 25 years so this is a piece of crap I have never heard before. When did they say this? What was their justification for it?

For every year spent pioneering, they get seven years extra everlasting life.

[edit] - Dang, "Open mind" beat me to it.
