Man, there are some other players here, anyone else in working bands??? As for my gear setup, I'm a traditionalist, I like my 335 plugged into one of my tweed amps with a reverb tank, then I use a Danelectro tuned to Open D for slide work, and use a trem and a Fulldrive for slide. I also have a Tele, and a LP with P90's and one with PAF style humbuckers

Right now I am in 2 working bands. 1 I play bass in. Usually a Ibenez with active pickups through a fender bassman, hartke or berlinger head.

1 I play guitar in. I have 35 guitars and usually use a cheap dean v or esp ltd through a marshall or fender amp. Both of those guitars have humbuckers which seem to give me more of a tone and volume that I prefer verses a stratocaster. Plus when I play out the guitars get dropped and knocked over either by me or drunks in the bars. I feel that it is the pick ups and amplifiers that are the biggest factor in sound and not the guitar, at least if it is a solid body guitar. Gibsons and Rickenbackers and high end Fenders are too expensive to take to honky tonks and thats where most of my buisiness is. I have an Ibenez custom with evolution pick ups like Vai uses but I dont like dealing with the locking tremlo they are hard to keep in tune. When I have seen Vai live he changes guitars everysong. I saw Beck live he played the same strat the whole show without even tuning it once. He plays with his thumb. Vai plays with a pick and breaks strings.

Another up and coming guitarist, well he's been around awhile but on their last cd, Stadium Arcadium, it seemed like Red Hot Chili Peppers were letting John Frusciante I think his name is, play astounding lead guitar. Like I said, best album I've heard in years, check it out if you haven't. They let him go at it and jeez did he perform! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
