Gill I tend to agree with both you and Passive Suicide. She would probably say that and she is probably brainwashed, but that doesn't mean that she is not sincere in her belief, so we should, if anything, pitty her and not attribute bad motives to her, or the couple walking by.

I see you point passive suicide. And you are right, we should take people at face value. If they are nice to us, be glad and be nice in return.
But, I see the other views as well. Having been a JW all my life, I've seen many a "good " witness smile and be polite to someone (at the door, on the street) and then turn around and make some selfrighteous comment.
Most probably this couple was sincerly nice and feels sincerely sorry for poor little JH who will die at Armaggedon...

Somewhere in the conversation the phrase "left the truth" would have come up. I remember visiting a cousin with my mother after I had "faded". They were catching up on all the latest gossip. One of them mentioned that "so and so has left the truth". That's when the lightbulb went off in my mind. I've left the truth!! lol I wondered how many people were saying the same thing about me!
