No you're not crazy. I'm doing the same thing. Since I was an elder I still have a lot of addresses and I'm sending out the UN information to all Jdubs I know here in my hometown and else where. I'm confident that at least some of them will realize the fallacy of the WTS and either weaken in their resolve to stay or just plain leave.
Lets remember how successful BX was with CCI mailings.

Like you I have written letters to local elders in the past.
I did it in the hope that I might strike a cord with some of them.
Chances are that it will, but they will never admit it.
Stealth is correct,it may put some burden of conscience on them.Who knows, it may eventualy lead to questions in their own minds.

You are crazy and that's what I admire most about you. Also, your big kahuna's (that's slang for balls). You got some big ones, girlfriend.
I think it is great that you are stirring things up. The vast majority will dismiss it, but you have still put something in their minds that will be accessed at a later date. After a while, too many little things like that turn into one great big thing and BAM, they're questioning whether or not "the truth" is the truth.
