Yeah, I agree with pettygrudger - most don't really know the bible. The have no idea for instance when events occured as described in the bible in relation to things not described. eg. what else was happening when Daniel was written, when the isrealites were supposed to be captives in Egypt.
Their knowledge is shakey and restricted to 'soundbite' scriptures. I think this is why they will not have a good discussion with anyone who knows it and isn't one of them.
pros - the late teens, early 20's pioneer sisters wear revealing clothing and usually will get involved in sexual activity
cons - 1/2 of these sisters will be plauged by JW Guilt Syndrome and turn themselves into the elders
I really need to do a completely seperate topic on bible truth and doctrines. I'd like to have a completely objective look at the major teachings of JW's and how they compare with actual bible scriptures.

Nope, not mine. Organizations exists to further a goal. To evaluate effectiveness, you have to ask both if they are effective, and weather the goal itself is good. If growth is good as an end in itself, then cancer is good.
And I do not agree JWs are well organized at all. Its internal communication is extremely bad, especially bottom to top. Leaders have no incentive to listen to advice from rank & file. Top leaders are far detached from the life of others. Also, the preaching work is extremely ineffective in making converts. Many religions who do not preach publicly have far higher growth rates. The fact is that most of JW conversions are not cold contacts, but through friends, family and collegues. This is true about all religious sects.

Mormons, moonies, scientologists and drug pushers have been growing steadily. They have all suffered persecution as well.
