What a joke, Isaac Vail, although a teacher by profession, wasn't a scientist at all. He would have better described as as a pseudo-scientist.
The scientific world even back then took no note of anything Vail wrote. Thus it is interesting that C.T. Russell endorsed fully the Vailian theory of the earth's annular rings in volume six of his Studies in the Scriptures. That should tell one just how discerning Russell was about the material he chose for inclusion in his books.
