Page 93 of the 1991 "Flock Book" discusses the treatment of victims of sexual abuse. It states that elders should always do what they reasonably can to protect children from further abuse; follow the Society's direction on such matters. Isn't that somewhat of an oxymoron? How can those 2 statements be even used in the same sentence?
The "book-holder" went on to make this note in the margin:
What about victims of abuse as children who now ask for help? Help them to look at matters from Jehovah's standpoint. It was not their fault. Don't dwell on bad thoughts. Constant rehashing of past abuses has a disparaging effect. No reason to discuss with others, or "group therapy".
Hasn't this elder ever been to a JC meeting? They rehash every filthy detail humanly imaginable, and dish out some of the most traumatic "group therapy" known to man!
Who made them psychological/ psychiatric experts to say whether or not someone needs group therapy?
