My heart was beating so fast and I was really nervous talking to him.....I think that is really strange to feel that way. I felt love and compassion and pity for him.

Welcome to my world! This is exactly how it affects me too.

Good for you. I hope you do get a chance to talk to more Witnesses in the future. They need to hear what they are not being told by the organization.

...but then I discovered things that are quite surprising. I mentioned the association to the UN...which he had never heard of, I talked about 607, I talked about the blood issue flip flops, and the child molestation settlement. He had the typical responses. He asked if I got my information on the (EVIL) internet..

The thing is, the UN thing is pretty recent, as is the child molestation settlement. How are these "mistakes of the past" and now the light is brighter? He didn't even know about the UN involvement.

I'll bet he is sorry he talked to you, but he won't be able to escape the little nagging doubts now inside his head. He may ask someone about the UN and the payouts. That would give the car group a little excitement, wouldn't it?

The WTS should at least inform its members about these current issues so that unsuspecting dubs are not confronted with them with no way to defend themselves other than the tired old new light line.

Goodness me, how JW door-knockers have changed compared to earlier decades! "Not wanting to argue", indeed! What a pathetic response he give when you simply presented the information to him.

Witnesses of long ago would have at least made some attempt to respond. I remember acompanying my grandmother from door to door in the late 1950s and 1960s - she used to take on anyone, ferociously flipping rapidly through the Bible and leaving people standing at their doors, mouths wide open. JWs don't do this anymore - in fact, I'd say they can't do this anymore because their theology is so full of holes and they have never had to actively defend that theology. They simply walk away. So much for giving a witness!!

Good on you for at least trying to engage this weak-kneed Witness.

Nice going Megsmomma , I think it's not so much you challenged him but that you had the kindness and courage to talk with him about truth .

Whether he actually remembers what you said matters not ,for if he was any real truthseeker he should have been moved and perhaps troubled by your sincerity.

Having never been a witness, the confrontation is different, yet the same for me as well.

Being a believer in a different Christian faith, for me it's like I'm getting ready to confront evil when I approach them or vice versa, out in the community. My heart and adrenaline gets going too. I throw out a couple of things for them to chew on, and am on my way.

Last time I left my card with a couple, so they could have someone call on me for an in house visit, but I haven't heard from anyone. Maybe when I told them, they were the ones belonging to false religion, it let them know how it was gonna go down at my house .\

    Sounds like you did fine.

Megsmomma- Mr. Flipper here. Great job you did there! You sure gave that witness something to think about! Like most witnesses, he probably didn't know about the child molestation settlements or other things you mentioned. They really are dumb as rocks and don't know how to reply to the voice of reason. I recently had an elder befuddled at my doorstep for 30 minutes as he tried to drone on about why the elders don't report child molestation. Great job, maybe some seeds of "real truth "will seep into their heads! Peace out, Mr. flipper
