Eventually they will eliminate another meeting.

Most likely it will be the book study or the school and will allow the DUBS to have another free night " to go out in service".

Just lik the other religions that usually have 2 services a week.

They are inching, and I mean INCHING their way to mainstream

When I was new in the religion, a pioneer had to do 90 hours a month, isn't it 70 now?

How about field service, you can do a minimum of 15 min a month now and stay out of trouble with the elders if you can justify doing so little.

Yes, they are inching their way to mainstream.

Some don't have the book study during the week.

When they put the book study on Saturday mornings right before the field service, it's like having a meeting less, since you don't have to get dressed up and lose an evening during the week.

The public meetings have been 2 hrs for my entire life.

You have not been around long. I remember when the public talk was one hour, there was a 15 minute break, and then a wt study that covered 30-35 paragraphs. Counting the break, the songs, prayer, and the chronic over-time wt study you were talking about a 3-hour commitment.

They are inching, and I mean INCHING their way to mainstream almost with all these changes. A whole DC about Jesus??? Come on now!!?!?! Whats next?

Ditto, I plan to use my 15 minutes to preach at my children's karate sessions.....or basketball games....or............

I've conducted book study on Saturday morning for many years and loved it.

One extra night to enjoy doing your own thing and not getting dressed up for a meeting where hardly anyone would study and comment.

    It was like pulling teeth.

It's a good thing the Society is warning the Witness people a few months in advance so they can revise their schedules and start outlining plans for what to do with that extra 15 minutes a week.

When something unimportant changes . . . is that important?

the book study on Saturday mornings right before the field service

Yeah, that isn't controlling enough. People get to watch television or go shopping
or rest. Children get to eat at home and do their homework. The field service
is usually a bit shorter because of the book study, but more people usually
show up for service because it's right after the meeting.

I am surprised they don't discourage this more sensible arrangement which
almost allows JW's a normal week. I was in a congregation where 2/3rds of the
members attended Saturday bookstudy, followed by service, then Saturday afternoon
public talk and WT for the entire congregation. That gave them 6 free weeknights
and all day Sunday for themselves. The CO had to tolerate it because the Hall
was so crowded. Was it no wonder I was able to break free?

I haven't, but my point was its at least been like this for almost 40 yrs. I do vaugely recall DC's going on until 7-8PM and dinner being served. Lets face it, they are loosing people left and right so they need to continue to ease up. Since I am trapped still going to meetings with my family for the time being I welcome any shortening of any meetings.
