OUTLAW - You must be mistaken. These were actually DIFFERENT songs. All polkas sound the same (except for Beer Barrel Polka, and the "She's Too Fat For Me" polka).

For a good part of my early years and till i was about 12/13 the cong would go to a beach about 3/4hour away on chistmas day.

    It was always good fun.

Sometimes I do... but, most of the time no.

I can do things with my REAL friends that I could do at a witness party, but it doesn't go the other way around.

I enjoyed and agree with your post. I always felt gatherings were a place where I would get into trouble because I would open my stupid mouth and say something not JW politically correct, if you know what I mean. I felt I could never really 'relax' because the uptight bastards would be scrutinizing everybody. I couldn't stand these things and I always felt that it was a 'pretend' show of how 'friendly/loving/human/christian' they were. But, if you dared to let your guard down and say the wrong thing you would regret it. Therefore, I could never consume alcohol - even in small amounts.

I always looked at my watch and when two hours were up it was time to excuse myself and say goodnight.

Never really went to them so I guess that's why I could really care less.

I never really became involved in the JW social scene. I had no family 'in the truth' so any of the social connections made between youth and other familys wasn't there. It was kind of similar with my wife who only had a mother with an unbelieving mate. Certain criteria put you on the outside of JW social networks.

In the whole grand scheme of things, I find it much more entertaining with "wordly" people. They're not worried about their conduct...they just enjoy being social with everyone and enjoy themselves. That's what it's all about in the first place.
