Good Morning JWD!!..Just got back from civilization yesterday..It`s soooo nice to be back in the Wilderness.....I`m sitting here at my computer catching up with all the posts..My enormous picture widow is directly in front of me..The Desert sun is out,it`s going to be a beautiful day..I look out the window a there are two gigantic animals 20ft from the window..Moose..A male moose, extremely muscular with a huge set of horns sitting majestically on his head..A long tassel of skin hanging between his jaw and neck.(Just like a wild turkey)..???..Could this moose be crossed with a turkey?..LOL!!.....Beside him is his mate,a smaller moose..But still friggin huge!!..They are both grazing on the desert plants right in front of me..I woke the dog up to show him, that was a mistake!..LOL!!..Now the dog is freaking out in front of the window and the moose could care less..A few more bites for both of them, they wander over to the ranch fence and simply step over it.....Another day at OUTLAWS Ranch...OUTLAW

MiddleChild..Thanks..There is plenty of land here..Always something for sale..The thing is,you need to be able to survive here..It is very different than living in civilization..Life and death are just two sides of a coin in the wilderness...OUTLAW

I wish I could see that.

Ahhhhh, I sigh as I pretend to be sitting with my family and you sipping my sweetened coffee and sharing some good conversation. That would be a true paradise.

I can only imagine the jumping and barking your dog is doing!!!! The deer used to drive our dog nuts!

    Hey, OUTLAW!

Sounds pretty darn good! Our "wilderness" consists of saucy squirrels, turkeys-in-a-trance and browsing deer. No danger or threat but to us gardeners, who wonder why the deer don't read the gardening manuals - they go ahead and eat what the experts say they don't like. The turkeys and squirrels love tearing asunder what we have so lovingly and tenderly arranged in our gardens. Time to detach and get a life, I guess.

An elderly neighbor, totally fed up, said "I hate Bambi!"

Outlaw, I can't imagine seeing wild animals that large out a window. How thrilling!

The biggest thrill I've ever had is seeing a pair of Pileated Wood Peckers in a tree out my front door. They're huge. About a foot tall, with striking red, black and white markings....I'll never forget it. The other thrill was seeing a whooping crane marching around our pool.

Enjoy your wildlife and what must be an absolutely peaceful existence.

I morning about 3:00 AM all the dogs in the neighborhood were barking, I looked outside and saw a large deer eating the plants in our front yard, funny how the wildlife prefers to eat non-native plants to the Chaparral that they should eat. We are in a large city of over 2 million people. Our house has a nature preserve behind it, that won't be developed until the right people get paid off. You don't have to live in the wilderness to see wildlife.
