If it had succeeded it would have killed a lot more than 100 million especially when people like Stalin were around and liquidated on the mere suspicion that someone may become a dissenter later on.

Does bring up an interesting point I have brought up before: left on its own (read: no CIA interference, etc.), who knows what would have happened?
The other thing is that the people who implemented communism/advanced socialism forced people to remain. What if there were no Iron Curtain? Then we see who would have stayed.
(sort of like if there were no shunning. There would be a mass exodus!) -
