  Not a lot to argue with really, I still have to acknowledge the existence of God, and a Creator seems to me to be a logical conclusion , rather than self propagation of life - even if the literal verse by verse teaching of Genesis 1 can be reasoned away from.

  I do still wonder at the marvels of the human body and I thank the modern world for making us all more aware of what it does....It is a pity that the WTS chooses to use some silly fundamentalist teaching and illustrations at times.

  BTW, to Blondie and all. I would like to refer to para 14 , which I found a tad misleading in the thread , perhaps I am thick .... Blondie wrote as follows.

  IMO,

  1. That God has had His "favorites."
  2. Yes.
  3. He let David choose his own life's course. On 'this side' of Armageddon people are allowed to commit lawlessness to the farthest degree...not so after Armageddon.

  If these moral standards apply to everyone,

  1. why did David not lose his life as a murderer and an adulterer as the Law code proscribed?
  2. Were other Israelites having the punishment waived and
  3. was David "special" because he was king?

  1. Because God's law was given to Humans to apply to each other. God as Law Giver is not bound to those laws. Jehovah dealt directly with David and so the Human to Human Law didn't apply.
  2. Not to my knowledge. Actualy, when David followed Satan's direction and took a Census God allowed David to choose his own punisment...David chose for Israel to suffer in his place.
  3. No, God had to deal with David directly because of His making a covenant with David before his sins earned him the Death Pentalty.

  Good comments everyone...just an introductory article to next week's one on obedience. How many times has that been brought up by the WTS lately. I think the rank and file are not listening carefully to the WTS/FDS/GB.

  Thanks for the comments Blondie, nothing further to add at this point - found it a struggle to get through it, remembered the days of sitting there listening to this boring crap, eyes glazed over - i'm sure that helped me get away from it eventually mind, the ignoring the indoctrination exercise.

  God's existence and the good qualities reflected in the earth around him. David also had the early books of the Holy Scriptures, which contain revelations by God about himself and his works (why not "Himself" and "His works"?).

  You want to know what is weird about that article? They never mention the term "evolution" or even describe the concept once. My theory is that they learned their lesson with that joke of a "scientific" treatise, "Life--how did it get here? By evolution, or by creation?" They know they can't actually answer the scientific fact of evolution, so they don't even try.
  
  On the other hand, you should have heard all the people in my wife's congregation talk about evolution, lack of mention in the article be damned. Not a single one of them understand even the most basic tenets of evolutionary biology--I heard the overused and highly inaccurate "life couldn't have possibly gotten here just by chance" more than once--but they sure do like to hold forth on how stupid people who believe in evolution are.

  It is good to see that the WTS mindset on commentary is not the only one.

  Good point, under_believer, about not mentioning "evolution" in the article although it was the underpinning of the WTS article. I thought about that too but if drifted away...................
