I like your style, franzy. LOL!

    Terry makes some interesting points.

The only ones who will know what's inked and perforated on me are those invited to my body. LOL!

Great topic, memario. Follow your heart.

Some have experienced that such bodily transformations have a liberating effect on the mind.

I got my first tat 3 years ago, and while it's just a small butterfly, I drew it myself, so it's special. My second one will be a tribute to my father (which I also drew myself). I also plan on getting more. And although tattoos are forever as terry said, if I really liked a hairstyle or whatever I would keep it. And tattoos can be a work of art if done correctly. True it is becoming more common place, but you shouldn't be afraid of doing something just because people think it's tacky or don't agree with it. It's not peer preasure unless you have to be talked into it.

My piercings though were done merely for defiance and pleasure reasons.

If you want to do something as a reminder for yourself personally as a reminder of 'waking up' then that is cool! It doesnt have to be a tattoo but if thats what you choose then look around you for inspiration, I am sure it will come.

Fortunately some of us in this enlightened 21st century have moved away from associating tattoo's with the likes of prisoners and slaves, but you are always going to get odd one's who have a limited view on things and will state them as an authority..........thats life.........after a time you recognise their game.

So if it means something to you, and you can live with the permanence I wouldnt worry too much about the dogmatic critics.

I got a butterfly on my right shoulder blade. It's in an area where I can cover it if I wish or show it off when I wish because as Terry said, they are for life. Some occasions I feel like showing it, other times I don't.

I don't regret getting it, it has a meaning to me, but I only ever wanted one and won't be getting another. However I recommend if anyone wants one, especially in an area that is constantly on display, go get a henna tattoo. It's a semi. If, after a year or so of having it, you still want it you can make it permanent.

Everyone should be compelled by law to have a tattoo.

On the sole of their right foot it should state where they are from. Made in the USA or made in England. Other products are marked in this way. What is wrong with us all?

I have 13 tattoos and 3 piercings. Each tattoo means something to me. Most involve my re-birth after leaving the borg. The piercings just make me look like a bad-ass.

I have seen so many lately right above the butt of young girls that show when they are wearing paints right below their belly botton. Don't know what it means but they usually have nice butts.

Even and old man likes pretty butts.

    Terry,

Thank you for your opinion. But I just want to inform you that there was no peer pressure involved in my decision to get a tattoo at the age of 45. Also, my tattoo is an original that I drew myself but the artist did make some changes. I do not consider my body "a bathroom wall" and I do not think that is a fair comparison.

Hey Nvr, I think Terry needs another bran muffin.
