An Interesting Tidbit

I'm using a public terminal at our bitty little old hometown library because I've lost my in-home connection.

The wife of the PO of my old congregation works here, and she gave me the strangest look imaginable when I walked in. Right after I registered and took my place, a sweet little auxiliary pioneer came in and sat right across from me!

I thought to myself, what in the world is going on? Then I relaxed and began to catch up on all the posts. I hope she (the PO's wife) will snoop and find out what I've been up to. Won't that be an interesting topic for conversation with her husband tonight?

Witnesses can work at a library? What, she checks them in, shelves them, but never reads them?

Ecc 12:12And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books [there is] no end; and much study [is] a weariness of the flesh.

What fun! We'll be waiting to hear what rumors start circulating about your bold apostate activity!

My sister works at the local library and she notices that my JW neighbor ONLY checks out romance novels (not that there's anything wrong with that).

That's funny, you'll have to be sure and check out plenty of "apostate literature" before you leave in case she doesn't check out what you were doing online. Really give them something to discuss over dinner tonight.

When all this jw stuff first started at our house I went to the library and had printed TONS of stuff about jw's, pedophiles, scandals, you name it! I think the librarian was a jw because she wanted me to sit and wait while she sifted through and counted each and every page. Finally I asked for the director who knew who I was and said, "how 'bout if I make you a deal? All I've go on me is $35.00, shall we call it even?" He agreed happily, as counting all of that would have cost him more in paying her per hour than the 35.00! She was not happy, I had never seen a crabby librarian at our library before. She was either a jw or didn't like the fact I went over head. Too bad.

There's quite a few dubs that work in libraries that I know of. They think of it as a very 'respectable' job for a woman! I ordered Combatting Mind Cult Control as an interlibrary loan, knowing full well the the ILL loans officer was a JW! I was so hoping that she was tempted! rose petal

Librarians are the worst snoops imaginable in my opinion.

"Librarians are the worst snoops imaginable" How do you figure that? Speaking as a librarian I would say, don't judge a book by it's cover! The worst snoops imaginable are postal workers. How do I know this? I used to be one. You could tell most of the time what was in the envelope - bills, letters, etc. I used to love reading the postcards! American librarians are to be applauded. They are arguing with their Government over privacy issues at the moment. Under the Patriot Act the US Govt is demanding that libraries turn over records of items that library patrons borrow. This is in violation of a number of privacy laws. In all the libraries I have worked in there is no record kept of what people borrow. As soon as the books come back in and are checked in the record is wiped. rose petal
