It's meant for people who "lock up" when they get asked a big question by their local inquisition. I thought I would ask for improvements and let people know in case it's of any use to anyone here.

Oh, and if it sucks, please don't kill me too hard!

Bear in mind that this is predominantly an atheist/exJW site. If you're deeply religious, you may not like everything in some of the other depts.

Thanks for the complements. I've been trying to update it at least once every day. Took me a couple of weeks to learn enough to really build it, but I'd like to try building some others.

I was a little worried that a couple of the articles were too long. Guess I'll improve over time.

It's still taking shape, but I'm trying to make it a worthwhile place. Don't know of too many sites that have that particular combination of subjects/angles. I've been trying to get Austin to link to it from the articles I've been writing for him on JWs. Hopefully he'll get around to that.

That is what I like about this board. Even though I have heard people accuse it of being biased, there is trememdous latitude of religious freedom here. There are those who are still active Witnesses and do not intend to change, as well as those who are active but doubting or fading. There are those who have joined another religion and are doing quite nicely there. There are some that are agnostic or atheist, or even antitheist and view God as a cruel selfish tyrant. Still others are leaning on satanism.

What I like is the openness of all the above. An atheist article is very nice to have on this forum for those who wonder if God really cares about people. And yet there are many posts from the prospective of Christianity. All of which may help get the active JWs to see their way out of that mind-control cult and into freedom.

"everything jehovah did for you" a christian would say stuff the OT its approach and its god and concentrate on the NT which revolves around teh person of Christ.

What does jehovah do for the average dub anyway? What does his so called org do for them except give them knowledge that turns out to be confusing, disorienting and poisonous.

Thanks IsaacJS2. I really need something like this, and have been thinking of making something similar myself - I've started writing out my reasons for leaving, both to get some focus in my brain, and to have something to say to those who ask.

Ironically, I've never been good at talking about my beliefs. Door-to-door OK, but that was basically repeating some line, or just presenting a magazine. Had real trouble actually talking to people about it in-depth at work, for instance. Not of lack of knowledge, but - I don't know, just my personality, I guess. I freeze up.

Now I have the same problem if trying to explain my new views to JWs. I have all the knowledge I need, but actually getting it out in a coherent manner is another thing.

So I've bookmarked the page.
