Employers to Fire Illegals

What is disturbing that the illegals with fake social security cards are actually paying into the soc sec system. The employers are also matching the amount. That may be the only thing that is keeping the soc sec program from collapsing. It could also explain why many gov officials are not doing as much about cracking down on them.

Apparently, the amount that is actually paid into the program by illegals, is far below that which is taken out of the system. If one illegal pays into social security but one hundred more don't pay in and use hospitals, schools etc., then the usage or expense far outweighs the income. As has been noted before, holding employers accountable for those using fake ID's - and lets all remember that those fake ID's have come off of citizens of this country - a great number through identity theft that allows them to access credit cards and loans - is good, but it won't touch the guy who pays a sub contractor to go out and get the job done on his farm. That sub contractor can pay cash for illegals to work thereby making the workers invisible and pocketing a vast amount of money for himself.

I don't believe that social security is in trouble - I do believe that the spin the government puts on it to keep people living in fear is very real. I don't believe that people won't do the jobs but I do believe that the spin the government throws to the American people on this does keep people spouting the same nonsense.

The bottom line is that a corporation cares only about the bottom line and the government is run by corporations. If they can walk away with 60 billion a year instead of 50 billion a year and break the law by doing it - then pay the government a few billion to spin the stories of woe they want you to believe, then they will. Until the people unite and stop allowing the bleeding, it will continue on its merry way and lest we forget, it won't be the top 1% that end up living on the streets without any food - it won't be the major banks and corporations that fold - it will be everyone in the middle and under. sammieswife.

I forsee absolutely no effect. Remember that to legally work in the US, an Employee has to complete an "I-9" document which requires that the Employer be presented with two pieces of ID that illegals would never be able to obtain. There are severe penalties to circumvent this law (IRA of 1986)

If they are breaking the law now, why would they stop just because of another law?

As far as the SSNs go, most of the numbers that illegals use are valid, they just get shared by many people.

As far as we know, they are not doing anything with these numbers other than well, WORKING? Obviously it would be much better for the US if, when they can no longer work, that they use these numbers for identity theft.

Probably earn better that way with less Gov't interference as well!

If they started allowing illegals to sue employers for violating minimum wage laws this whole juggernaut of illegal bull pucky would come to a SCREEEEECHING halt.

The problem is that the current administration (despite being cited as being "behind" this) is NOT behind it at all. Bush doesn't want the illegals gone. He wants to give them amnesty. One more clear example of the fact that he's an a$$clown.

Oh and finally I grew up in the wine region of upstate ny. In the summer most of the boys and a lot of the girls worked in the vineyards. It's just what you did as a kid to make money. I never saw a single Mexican, illegal or otherwise. Now when I go up there I see brown skin everywhere and the kids are home playing video games and getting fat. Getting these illegals out and beating the fat little ba$tards off the couch might just be the best thing that has every happened to our country!

mkr....too true - I'm about as white as you can get but as a kid a lot of us spent a summer or more picking berries. We had to get summer jobs and one year that was the one I tapped into in our neighbourhood. We were picked up by a truck early in the morning - a load of us - and dropped off at the farm. Handed baskets and then spent hours picking without a lot of break time. It was hard work but the next year I progressed to full time babysitting services all summer for people. I wouldn't have even dreamt of laying around the house all day watching television or playing around - wouldn't have been allowed. Chores inside the house or work outside the house - those were the choices. I also worked as a chamber maid and a hotel desk clerk - so yes, those jobs were done before and will get done again - sammieswife.

Maybe some of the human waste on welfare (I know that not EVERYONE on welfare is a layabout!) can get a job too?

They did break the law again when they STOLE MY PURSE and took nothing but a few bucks and my SS CARD. Didn't even touch my credit cards!

Yes, MY SSN is valid, valid for ME. Not for a THIEF who entered the country ILLEGALLY and used it or sold it to "just to get shared by many people."

I have had to jump through so many hoops ever since... just to prove who I am and earn a living... not the least of which is renewing my driver's license.

Minister Amos, I'm surprised that you would advocate identity theft. In fact, "condoning illegal activity" is against the posting guidelines of this board.

BrentR, you are dead wrong. The employers take the #'s for paperwork only and don't pay in... they are complicit with the illegals, after all. If they paid into the system, and the illegal gets in trouble in any way, it gets traced back to the employer, usually a middleman agency that provides factory workers for large companies. The large companies circumvent hiring laws and wipe their hands clean when the illegals get caught using "valid" numbers from legal citizens. The numbers get sold for hundreds of dollars and are recycled frequently.

Believe you me, I only *wish* they were putting $$$ into my account! Then it would make all the hassle worth it in a weird way.

OH DEAR LAWD what are you smoking? I need some for my next trip to the NJ Department of Motor Vehicles, LOL!

I'm going to stick my neck out and say I have a different take than most of you.

I personally know many illegals. For the most part the pay taxes. They have a tax ID number that they use for this purpose.

For the most part they work very hard at jobs most of us would not want.

For the most part they send money back to their home countries to help their families. Many even pay to send siblings to college.

Many have shared with me the horror stories of thier lives prior to coming to the US. They've also told me of the horrific experience of crossing the border. The "mules" rape them and rob them blind. Many die in the desert before seeing the US.

They do not come here for frivolous reasons and they risk everything for the chance to live here.

The naturalisation process is expensive and complex. Many have no chance of staying here legally.

I do not see them as a threat. Our language and social system is not in danger. Our jobs are not in danger. Those who think otherwise are ignorant and ridiculous.

Yes, in some areas, the subsequent generations seem to fall into a life of crime. But this is because we treat them like dirt, take advantage of them, and make them live in areas that are undesireable. They pick up the bad habits of the criminal element of our own society. They lash out at the system that oppresses them.

Until we start treating all people with dignity and affording all the opportunity to progress and seek a decent life, we will have the problems that come with illegals.

It's up to the more affluent and educated people of this country and of this world to change the system by changing their attitude.

All of us on this board know how destructive and divisive religion can be. National barriers are no better

There is no cap on agricultural worker visas - it really should be no problem - just apply for a proper visa. There is a cap on H1 visas

These visas are temporary. Not all of them work in agriculture. In my area many work in factories and cleaning jobs.

you are splitting hairs - H1 are capped - others for Janitorial are not - temporary visas allow you to get another visas and a SSN - so all good
