I live closer to Austin but Texas in general pisses me off. No growth planning just react then tie your hands to boot. Texas being the most anti-tax state in the country is really paying for being so tax free with growth problem. Mainly near where I live.

If anything happens, FEMA is on the case.

I lived in Houston when I was a teen, hated it. Run 5go Run

I agree , I'm not liking texas myself . Up here in DFW we don't get hurricanes tho .The whole southern coast is a bad place to live with all these hurricanes coming thru.

Well, I'm over in San Antonio... we got pounded by rains that were kicked up by Erin last week. It was mostly run-off water, cause we had a heck of a lot of rain in July.

I haven't seen the weather for a day or so. I guess I need to sit down and watch it tonight.

BTW: Japan is quite a ways from Texas... not sure why you're worried 5go.

    Regards,

    Jim TX

I always get some mild amusement out of watching impending hurricane coverage on the news. People seem to wait until the very last minute to buy plywood, water, batteries and flashlights. Of all natural disasters hurricanes can be predicted well in advance. Heck they can look at the rainfall in Northern Africa and be able to tell if that will form into a hurricane. Every year there is a hurricane season and every year the news shows hardware stores emptied out of of the same supplies and people whinning about not being able to get it. What did they do with the plywood they bought last year? Or the year before?

FEMA is a disaster in and of it's self. If people would pull thier heads out and think ahead maybe even prepare a bit we would not need FEMA in the first place.

We had a bad windstorm here last Dec. that was forecasted three days ahead of time and people still were not prepared. I never saw so much whinning and moaning on the news in my life. I loaned out three corded phones to friends because they never realized that when the power goes out cordless phones don't work. When they returned them I asked if they were going to go buy a $9.95 phone to have on hand for the next outage. I got the aloof "maybe" sort of answer back.

So you folks living in Florida, the Carolinas, Alabama etc. go buy plywood, batteries and water RIGHT NOW! The shelves are full, there are no lines and all the stores have a great selection. I would bet the power is also on so you won't even need a flashlight to navigate the isles.

Please humor me so when I am watching CNN or The Weather channel I won't have any reason to shake my head in utter disgust and confused dis-belief. It's at the point now that watching the human behavior exhibited pre-hurricane is a twisted source of entertainment for me.

5go, be safe and I will hold a positive thought for you and the family that you ride it out w/o any serious problems. Now go buy some plywood for your windows before the big rush!
