Here is a pretty strong list of WT Society embarrassments and mistakes to look through that I put together earlier this year.

But none of it will matter if she is hard headed about critical WT Society examinations. She must be willing to examine the WT Society without WT colored glasses. Otherwise you will be spinning your wheels in the mud, I'm afraid.

If she is open to examine, you can go far. Compare it to buying a used car. Do you just want to hear what the salesman has to say about it? Or do you want a less biased, more neutral party to tell you what it really needs.The facts as they truly are. Likewise examining the WT Society can (and should) be done through more than just the WT Society itself.

Also, I'd suggest not putting all of your eggs in this one conversation. It takes time for even the most damaging information to set in. It took me several months. My wife several months and my step daughter almost a full year. But initially all said the very same thing; "I don't want to hear it"...

Yeah, sure.

Vinny - you have some awesome quotes in that article. Do you have a key as to what all the references mean? I'm trying to make sure I include exactly where I got each quote from so there is no question. For example - what is GA?

But i have one question will this just confuse your wife more than actually making her see 'the light'.

Her reply basically is would you want to raise them as a JW? And before i can say anything she says - think how we turned out, pretty good right? i mean we are moral, don't smoke, lead good lives etc... So this gives me a quick easy answer - YES I would want to raise them like that - to be moral, and good, and lead Christian lives. She says - i wish you would talk to me about how you feel. Being this involves whether we will have a child - i feel i owe it to her at this point, being the ONLY reason i pretty much have been avoiding wanting one is because I don't want to bring him/her up believing their salvation is dependent on this organization. So my answer: I WILL. Give me a few weeks to get my thoughts in order and I'll tell you how i feel.

I can totally understand you not wanting to bring a child into this world into the JW.

You can bring up great kids in this world but in the end its up to the child how they will turn out even the best parents can have problem children raised either in or out of the JW.

Be honest with her on how you feel and explain with proof from the JW publication about what you want her to know. Be prepared for some battles.

yeah - that is my biggest worry - that is why i still want to shorten and condense alot of these sections. i feel i'm being too wordy but it all seems important to me. so i was kinda hoping some on this site that had too much time on their hands could help me fine-tune and polish the arguments.

i've got to prove somehow that i have a logical basis for my decisions and i'm not just 'fading' because i'm tired of being a Witness. I would think if i can say look at exhibit A and B and C and D and E and F etc...can't you see something isn't right -it holds more weight than just saying i don't agree with everything they say.

believe me i'm as confused as anybody as to how to go about this. i feel my marriage, my future as a father, my relationship with both our families, everything depends on what happens here. but as i said in my initial post i owe it to her to explain myself. we want a child. we have a beautiful marriage outside of this one aspect of what my religious leanings and thoughts are now..... i can't just tell her i don't want to discuss it.

i have to believe.

Unless you have hard evidence, just printing pages from this forum won't work on a witness who has been in the truth for over 30 years. Their response would be, where did you get the information? As soon as you say the internet forum everything is going down hill. I have brought up the same things to my mother with no avail. I mean my mother would even go as far as saying that news site are apostate sites if they put the WT in a bad light! So if you're dealing with a hardcore JW printing stuff from this forum might not be a good idea.

Just remember, I have never seen anybody jump at the first series of critical information. It ALWAYS takes time from my experiences. And I have heard about and personally have had quite a few nowadays. They all take a measure of time from when they first heard the facts.

Use experiences from others who've left. Ray Franz books, other websites etc etc...

Be willing to give her time. Do not act disappointed if she goes right into denial. Just getting her to be open to examine is the key to progress. If she IS willing to examine all things then this here would be the most powerful tools my wife and I have found:

Well - if you peruse the document, i think at least half of it is direct quotes from the Society's literature. I'm attempting to make it quotes from the literature and commentary on the quotes. If most of us comes either from their mouth or the the Bible I don't know how much manuevering room there is? I'll definately go back through and try to make it more so though, i definately don't want it to sound like it's been copied from a forum, thanks for the input.

i was wondering how much of the prophecy stuff to keep in there (pertaining to 607/1914).

I threw a bunch of it in "Appendix A" specifically to get it out of the main document - but it seemed like

it had some important ideas if i needed backup. Maybe i take it out of the document

all together and just have it on standby in case she asks for additional info or questions

what's already there?
