When I get old and decrepit enough to start wearing Depends, I'm going to save up the used ones and bequeath them to the WTS. I figure after all the $h!t they fed me for 25 years deserves to be repaid in kind.

Scully, you are so funny--- your comment made my day. Wanna

The saddest realization is that they have the old time members leaving Real Estate, Pensions etc. The New members have none of this much less the amount of money they need to maintain themselves monthly.

My parents use to drop $100 a month into the KH contribution box, plus something at every assembly, District, Circuit, one day....what ever.

After my father died my mother donated $100,000.00 out of his pension wherein she receives a payment quarterly of 6% of the principal until she dies. She has left them more, much more, and then much less.

What the hell? Do they really need it? I resigned myself to their portion until I read about the payout to abuse victims. Now I'm angry, and she refuses to believe any of it ever happened.....Apostate blathering on the INTERNET. She cannot even operate the mouse on a computer much less look anything up. She has not read anything other than Society material for the last 20 years, barely watches the news and forget about books outside of their literature.

Just a short take on older JW's and how they are influenced.

My folks are elderly as well and the reaction to the settlements was not good. Most older JW really hate computers and the web ,it's hard for them to understand the concept of people sharing all at the same time, the connection, besides per the WT they should avoid the web and not believe what they read, since it's all apostate lies!

The purple ribbon is in support of pancreatic cancer.

My parents didn't have anything to donate. My mom used to give me 5.00 every sunday to put in the contribution box, some days I slipped it in some days i stuck it in my pocket and put a blank piece of paper in the box

Now they are retired, have no savings and live off of limited funds. No one at the hall helps them out so they depend on my and my siblings (the ones that work) for help. I won't be sending my mom any funds any more, my dad I may if he calls with a sad enough story!

    Yes Dragonfly,

The members with the big bucks, don't understand the Web. Probably just like the television in the late 50's. (not sure of the time frame with television)

What they haven't discovered is the up and coming generation does not have the bank accounts of the dieing members. They have ordered the new generation to stay out of school, and preach. So that leaves them with no money accept hours put in.

The GB will be reaping what they have sown.

Lots of religions and other charitable organizations receive estates and promptly sell them, The only use they are to them is as income, sentiment doesn't figure into it. And while the churches I went to had a financial accounting that was pretty specific (Joe Wilsons gift to us is paying for the new fellowship hall, etc) many org. have no such details in their regular reporting. The WT is a huge organization, but they could offer up an accounting as a form of good-will to the members/contributors. It's pretty lame that they don't.

Thanks all for your input. It is very much appreciated.

I would still like to know the story behind Anna Bedford owner of 135 acres and various buildings on some of the most expensive real estate in the U.S. and the story of how the WBTS wound up owners of the property.

I wonder if their were any children or heirs that were short changed in the bargain.
