Yes just heard this on National BBC Radio News (millions of listeners).
He was described as "a Jehovahs Witness Minister."
Yes this will drag out the publicity, tarnish the name of the Dubs even further, and hopefully down the line he'll get the custodial sentence he deserves.

Just a reminder on how easy it is to send out the link to WATCHTOWER DOCUMENTS sites to all local and regional news outlets, coalitions, mental health facilities, local politicians, law enforcement, court buildings, etc..
It is vital that they view it and know about all 5000 pages of documents provided.
Easy stuff people.

Baroness Scotland:
She has specialised in family and public law and has chaired and represented parties in a number of Inquiries relating to Child Abuse, Mental Health and Housing. She was voted Black Woman of the Year (Law) 1992.
I didn't think this lenient sentence would pass by her so easily!

Outrage as serial abuser escapes jail because he is “a man of faith”
A predatory paedophile walked free from court yesterday after admitting a string of sex attacks on children, including an 18-month-old baby. Michael Porter, 38, used his trusted position as a prominent Jehovah’s Witness to prey on youngsters, many of them children of members of the church.
In court he pleaded guilty to 24 counts of indecent assault and gross indecency over 15 years. But at Bristol crown court Judge Tom Crowther handed him a three-year community rehabilitation order after hearing he had undergone therapy and, according to the BBC, after being impressed that Porter was “a man of faith”. Full details of the case here:
Terry Sanderson, president of the National Secular Society, said: “The fact that this man escaped a jail term because the judge took into account that he was ‘a man of faith’ is a disgraceful abuse of the law. What if he had been an atheist? Would that have meant he went straight to jail? You cannot have a legal system that favours people because they claim to be religious. This is a very disturbing development.”

Are there any Brits here who attend meetings and know how this is affecting the congregations? It seems that with such widespread publicity this would be causing some fallout - like we had here in the states when Barbara went on Dateline.
