Perfect definition Mary! Also.. financial status was huge where I lived.. who had the nicest beach house ect. And of course.. comments from elders.. as to who was the "cream of the crop" in regards to young ones in the congregation!

Dragonlady and Mary - GREAT posts! Very funny, and sadly pretty accurate.

Me personally as part of our family fitted in at 5

    Mum was 4

Stepdad was a 3 fo sho, he definitely kisses everyones ass and asks advice on just about every single there is. IF he was a woman and the Society released an article about wiping clean the shoes of those above us with your tears/hair like the whore in the bible, he would do it.

There is nothing more embarrassing than a blonde sister who knows more about the White House or Moscow than the hounders do, except when the hounders perpetuate the myth that blondes are dumb. Some of them are, but no more so than the hounders themselves. Any blondes that have seen through the myth of the Watchtower are solid proof that being blonde doesn't make you dumb.

And in some of my experiences, I have noticed that blondes tend to be smarter than average. I was in a hall with a baby that couldn't have been more than 20 months, blonde, who was reading the contribution signs. This child was also able to read the boxes of Tic Tacs as well. If this level of intelligence kept up, I am sure that she will turn apostate because of being able to see through all the bullsxxx of the Watchtower Society. Thus, anyone who is smart is automatically an outcast in the Tower. Who knows? I wonder if the Watchtower Society started that "dumb blonde" myth to put down people that have a high probability of being much smarter than average!

Of course, I ended up fitting a "social class" called "Escapee". I haven't been to a meeting in 2 years, and they are too dumb to integrate the "Just meet men" rule with why I miss all the meetings. Eventually this will make me fit the class of "Missing". No, none of the hounders are blonde.

Thanx Mary.............you've just reminded me about all the AGAPE love that I've been missing, these last 9 and a half years!!!!

I simply didn't fit in, and I liked it that way. When I was a single mom, I never was invited out to dinners, but there was one pioneer sister who suddenly became a single mom when her husband left her. Why, she was invited EVERYWHERE!!!!! You'd have thought she was a queen or something, she was so popular!! She eventually married the P.O., a year or so after his wife died, so now I suppose that does make her a queen, of sorts?!

However, they sure liked to dump their kids on me to watch when they wanted to go in service then out to lunch afterwards!!! I remember one time, I had 19 children.....THAT was the last time I did that.

And a few of them liked to come for haircuts and perms, then claim to not have their wallet with them. dirty rotten, sons of......oh, excuse me, getting off topic.

Ya, but Dee, the difference was: she kissed all the appropriate ass and came across as being so holy and righteous that we gave her the nickname "Mother of God". The fact that she got pregnant by her now-deserted husband when he was married to another woman, is a tiny flaw in an otherwise, perfect character, wouldn't you agree?

rofls@mary!! (why has that become a hyperlink?)

Perhaps there was a social/spiritual hierarchy in my congregation. However it wasn't as noticeable as the class discrepancies you could see from one congregation to the other...different demographics obviously had a different socioeconomic levels

Yeah, there were social levels in the Kingdom Halls... and if you weren't 'in', you weren't invited to the 'cool' parties that you always heard about later.

I was a loner. Didn't have many/any close friends - and wasn't popular. I'm sure the gals thought me wierd - which I probably was.

I took some college courses - but found that frustrating - as anyone I talked to in the group - was clueless as to what I was talking about.

I went out a lot during the week - but didn't 'pioneer' as I didn't want to have to commit to the required 'hours'. So - I wasn't accepted by those 'pioneers'.

Lots more - but suffice it to say that I was somewhere near the bottom of whatever 'class' system existed.

No biggie. I'm not out - and most of those that were higher up 'socially' are probably still in.

    Regards,

    Jim TX
