Noah preached 120 years until the time of the flood, which was the time of the end to Noah and his generation . The December 15, 2003 Watchtower article is paralleling Noah's day to our present day. The Society is adding a 120 years to the 1914 date to come up with the hinted date of 2034.

Words such as "Similar, Similarly, Similarity, Similarities, Parallel, Corresponds, Characteristic, Compare, Arklike and more are all through the article to back up their subtle and hinted claims.

Page 15, Paragraph 6 "In Noah's day, Jehovah declared: 'My spirit shall not act toward man indefinitely in that he is also flesh. Accordingly his days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years.' (Genesis 6:3) The issuance of this divine decree in 2490 B.C.E. marked the beginning of the end for that ungodly world. Just think what that meant for those then living! Only 120 years more and Jehovah would bring 'the deluge of waters upon the earth to bring to ruin all flesh in which the force of life is active from under the heavens.' - Genesis 6:17"
Page 15, Paragraph 7 "Noah received the warning of the upcoming catastrophe decades in advance and he wisely used the time to prepare for survival.' After being given divine warning of things not yet beheld,' says the apostle Paul, '[Noah] showed godly fear and constructed an ark for the saving of his household.' (Hebrews 11:7) What about us? Some 90 years have passed since the last days of this system of things began in 1914. We are certainly in 'the time of the end.' (Daniel 12:4) How should we respond to warnings we have been given? 'He that does the will of God remains forever,' states the Bible. (1 John 2:17) Now is therefore the time to do Jehovah's will with a keen sense of urgency."

There was a study article in early 2006 that also did the reminder of the 120 years of time after
God's judgement. I conducted that Study at my hall.

The WTS is seeing so much decline that it is highly likely they will see a need to set a date.
They will need to set it far enough ahead to give them time to use. 2034 could be that date.
They will do something very similar to 1975, allowing excitement to build, but leaving room to
deny later.

If they started soon enough, most of the current GB would be dead by then, not caring about the
aftermath. They could get a 2/3rds approval on pushing the date. This could finance their move
out of the U.S.A.

I like how Arthur said they could come up with something like "the final gleaning."
How about, "Jehovah may have delayed Armageddon, because unlike the days of Noah, today's
warning message is effective. People are coming to the house of Jehovah. He wishes nobody to
be destroyed, so the gleaning will continue as long as Jehovah sees more sheep-like ones out there."
That could be their parachute in 2035. I think it will happen.

I also think they will lose more than the total growth if they do that. They will shrink to a couple
million or even less after this- but it will be a hell of a ride.

Certainly not, the JWs have been playing with dates for almost 130 years now and they have been very imaginative with producing new ones throughout that time, their end of times enthusiasm never fades. And if we see them as part of the adventist movement then their date setting goes back 200 years to the early 19th century.

The whole issue is too profitable for them to abandon, like all large corporations they loathe dropping what brings in good profit.

I submit that whatever date the WTBS came up with, or modified for whatever reason, would be accepted by the mass of their constituency, because that's what the constituency wanted to believe to begin with.

I don't buy into the ideas of corporate profits, or individual glorification. People, as a mass (sociological group), do what they do because that's what they want to do. In that perspective, the WTBS is not a director...it's a facilitator.

As are all religions, and political bodies.

People want to believe that they are immortal, or in some way immune to mortality (going to heaven, achieveing Nirvana, etc.)---and yet mortality is the one and only demonstrable aspect of existence (for all living things).

Well it has been circulating in our area since 1995. If nothing happens the tower will not fall, they are already semi preparing for this situation. The whole 1914 (aside from the Rev book) is being less and less mentioned. Up until last year it appeared that the legal department would eventually take over but with the May QFR and the Kool-Aid WT it seems that a deal has been struck between the departments. Yep they all get a win, Service gets to limit production, lay-off bethelites,and close and sale properties(saving $$$), Writing gets to isolate and futher control the "sheep", and of course Legal gets to keep protraying JWs as mainstream. So if the GB/ Writing dept decide to press the 2034-2035 issue then it will be limited to "publishers" only and not the general public. And the average R&F Publisher can easily be replaced with new converts. The only good that will come of this is the lifting of the blood ban, expect that when there are only JWs who were baptized 1985 and after.

I think they could buy another 40 years or more by declaring that it was 587 BC after all that Jerusalem was destroyed, and use the correct number (365 1/4) days per year instead of 360. After that, they are going to be up Sxxx Creek without a paddle.

Jesus and Judas split because Jesus was the theocracy and Judas was the collections finance and legal service. One killed the other. All watchtowers of the city Jerusalem were built outside the city wall connected to the temple inside the city wall. Yet to use the WatchTower you had to go thru the temple. To kill the first Roman down below from up above on the watch tower, the Jews brought their weapons thru the temple hidden in their garments These guns will be brought into churches when martial law is proclaimed from now until the asteroid impact. This is why they will also accuse the watchtower of having weapons if the holy ones or anointed gather to trial like Jesus did. Judas the legal turning on Jesus the theocracy. Don't let the WT fool you, Judas exists at the table of Jesus until Armageddon itself. It could be one of 7 claiming there are no pedophiles, or it could be someone who makes confession in online video that he hates himself for looking at tight spandex packages on men, asking women if they see these tight bulges too like he does. Proper or not proper our Jesus said that both brother and enemy would dish out the measure back to you that you have been dishing out to them.

To me, it looks like the Governing Body is going in the total opposite direction of date-setting.

They are now gradually trying to completely distance themselves from the Generation, and from 1918, 1919, eventually 1914.

Their new August Watchtower even declares that the Tribulation could be in some "future time period."
