I heard some strange prayers! I knew the talks were outlined but the PRAYERS! And we all had to say AMEN! That just makes me mad!
I have seen prayers read at district convention!

I agree that "written prayers" goes against the JW grain and their long held position.
However I would have to say that Christians in general would wonder what all the fuss was about.
All this "repeating a written prayer can't be sincere or heartfelt" is just another JW mindset mostly from a position ignorance.
Why wouldn't repeating or meditating on words someone had spent a great deal of time preparing be a valid prayer.
I would have thought that something that touched you so much that you wanted to repeat it would be worthy of a considered and heartfelt "Amen"

Sorry but I don't believe this, could have been something else going on, but never seen or heard of this in any congregations I have ever attended over many many years.
Should be reported as unexceptable if it happened.
