If you had a choice of living in a world where magic, fairy tales, angels, demons, gods, and other curmudgeons were real as opposed to a completely secular world, which would you choose and why? Notice I didn't imply which kind of world we actually live in.

On another note, do we not live in a magical world? We can talk into little boxes to people around the world, gaze into a screen and punch a little board to see and communicate with "spirit" people we'll never meet in countries we'll never visit, defy gravity to the point of completely leaving the planet, jump off of buildings and land safely on the ground, etc. etc. Is this not all pretty magical?

It is scientific, but it would seem magical to people in the past or to those who don't know how these things work- like guns were seen as magical by those who hadn't seen guns before. I believe we live in a world without magical beings, and that's the way I prefer it. I'd make an exception for some magical beings though, a genie would be nice to have around.

Well, I suppose it depends mainly on your perception and how you define magic, doesn't it. ;-)

the Bible says "there is nothing new under the sun". So does that mean that we are history repeating itself? Has all this existed before? Would that be magical?

Think of how a child sees the world, everything is fresh and magical--monsters live in closets and under beds, and no telling what is just around a corner. How many new perspectives are gained from having a non conventional view of life? Are there any advantages to seeing the world with a magical eye?

If you mean a world like Harry Potter's or The Lord of the Rings, I think my answer would be: I would rather live there.
Only proviso: I could slip back into this world whenever I wanted.
Why? It sounds like fun.
