All I can say is that you are a very kind person, and any mother would be proud to call you their son. She sure is missing out. You will be a great dad.

There has to be give and take. Don't even give her the HDD. Since she has consistently shunned you, she has to show she is willing to change. When you see that, then you can open up. Otherwise what's the point of just giving if she's never going to change.
