or is it in the scripture about the Adornement of jewlery and braiding of the hair?

I actually had a "double wardrobe". I had my "wear to the kingdom hall/gatherings" side of the closet and then my "wear out in the world" closet which consisted of low cut shirts, shorter skirts, long slits in the skirts, etc. We rarely took pictures on vacation because that's when I really dressed it up "worldly-style"

Towards the "end" I started combining my wardrobe- I didn't care- if a brother wanted to comment to me about my dress and grooming then I was ready to tell him to stop staring-

Once when I was 16 I had this dress that had a slit and I wore it up on stage- apparently when I walked off stage, people got a glimpse of my *GASP* thigh!! Like 5 elders came up to me to counsel me on it. If some guy EVER came up to my daughter to tell her that she needs to watch out for thigh exposure, I'd slap them.

Again- back to my whole gripe- why did my mom allow this?

maybe I need counseling- I just can't get over that my parents subjected me to this-

Men make the rules. It is man made, male run religion. If the GB had to wear skirts out in service in 10 degree weather in Michigan, I'd bet they would find a scripture to justify wearing pants.

This is an American, male, midwestern cult.

    Rbi8 Deuteronomy22:5***

"No garb of an able-bodied man should be put upon a woman, neither should an able-bodied man wear the mantle of a woman; for anybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah your God."

This is the one that I've always assumed was the basis for the rule about women not being allowed to wear pants at the KH. It was read to my mother when she showed up at the meeting one night prepared to give a #3 Talk, wearing a lovely pink pantsuit.

One way to get around this is to embrace your ethnic traditions if you have any that allow you to wear pants. I've seen a few Sisters™ of East Indian heritage wearing the traditional pantsuit and tunic outfit at all meetings.

An adult woman putting a skirt over pants like in kindergarten when it was cold out or to play on the toys so your underwear didn't show? hillarious!

This was a Watchtower flip-flop; allowing pantsuits for sisters at Kingdom Hall meetings in the summer of '75 and later in the same year reversing the policy. It not a dramatic a change as organ transplants or blood fractions but it illustrates the micro-control the GB has always had on JW lives. I guess the current posters are just too young to recall this historical change.

Well some of us are young, but some of us remember 75 too.
