Regardless of your opinion, here are the facts about your "freedom". If you disagree, just try finding these products that violate these arbitrary and protectionist standards.
Education. You are taught disjointed percepts by rote memory. There is no phonics in school these days, and the look-see method is total crap except in cases of deaf children. You cannot even get a private school these days to teach people integrated concepts, because it would not be accredited. Teachers that teach concept instead of disjointed percepts are run right out of the profession--sometimes fired, often removed on trumped up charges.
Relationships. It is getting more dangerous to court these days with "jail-bait" laws. If you are courting someone that is 16 and the state law says it has to be 17, you are asking for a heap of trouble. The person could go along with it for a while and without warning, blow you in. It doesn't matter if the older person is 18 or 19, either. The younger person can lie about their age, giving an age of 18 or so, and then get you into a heap of trouble once you do something. And there is too much legislation that can be used against you--singles that are 21 and up are more likely to be demonized and condemned to remain that way because of these laws. Some states are making things unnecessarily ridiculous--we are not talking about people in power initiating coercion to get sex, either.
Medicine. There is absolutely no freedom of medicine. If you get cancer, you have the three least effective options to treat it. The results of surgery, radiation, and chemo are dismal. We have not advanced here since the 1950s. While people can and should have these options open, if someone freely chooses to use herbal remedies or machines that quickly get banned whenever they promise to cure cancer, they should be allowed to accept the risks and use alternate methods. This is fast becoming illegal.
Food. Have you ever noticed when you shop that there are only two or three large conglomerates dominating each product? I have. This is because they have protectionist laws that make breaking into the market extremely difficult. They refuse to allow independents to put questionable ingredients (that are honestly disclosed) in their foods; yet they allow the giants to put monosodium glutamate in disguised forms, and people that are sensitive to it or choose to avoid the substance cannot honestly find out what foods to avoid. Notice that Stevia is banned in this country as a sweetener (they have to label it as a supplement), but aspartame (which has a long list of complaints that anyone who search-engines "Aspartame" can find out) is allowed.
The economy. We have the Fed, which is a parasite that usurps value by regulating the economy, usually to its own advantage. This was not there until 1913. Before that, Lincoln usurped value from the common worker with that damn income tax. I truly believe that the government creates economic problems where none needed to exist. Sometimes they do this by short-term bailouts like Clinton did in the late 1990s that have short-term benefits only to have long-term devastation that makes the next president look bad.
The original constitution with the first 10 amendments should be reiterated, and any laws that violate it ought to be repealed automatically. Then, there should be another amendment that states "No individual, group, or government shall initiate the use of force, threat of force, or fraud against another individual or their property." Done properly, this would eliminate protectionist laws and allow competition to thrive. Allopathic medicine would now have to compete with natural medicine. Cars that guzzle gas would have to compete with cars that use some unknown and infinite source of energy. The Fed would be dismantled. Taxes that go toward paying off these regulatory agencies would drop sharply, resulting in a better economy, freer markets, and ultimate wealth for everyone except the few that insist on putting out crap and hindering the competition.
Notably, such an amendment would also result in the Watchtower Society going under ban--permaban. Why? Because they initiate force, threat of force, and fraud just to exist. They are a scam. They threaten people with imminent destruction unless they join now and stay active in it. So yes, as much as I am against laws that unnecessarily compromise freedom, I would still favor a ban on the Watchtower Society.
