I'm curious: What if a person disassociates him/herself simply because he/she has lost faith in what they teach, and have not done anything wrong; doesn't smoke, drink in excess, gamble, hang out with non-witnesses, doesn't have a non-witness girl/boyfriend, doesn't read apostate material, and so on and so forth?

What do they fill out then, and using what words?

"Violate neutrality"? And for this they use the scripture in Isaiah 2:4 that talks about beating their swords into plowshares, as though the ancient nation of Israel never took a stand on anything. Maybe they should take a look at Joshua 6: 21 that says: They devoted the city to the LORD and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it—men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys.

    Here's a few more:

    - In the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them--the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites--as the LORD your God has commanded you. Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshipping their gods, and you will sin against the LORD your God. (Deut.20:16-18).

    - When the LORD your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally (according to the law of anathema). Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. (Deut.7:2-5, 2:34, Num.25:1-5, 31:14-17, Ex.23:33, Joshua 6:17, 8:26).

    - They are specifically to show no pity to inhabitants of the land (Deut.7:1-2). God believes they will not want to fully carry out His directions, so He warns the Israelites against pity!

Plus, in the BOE letter, it doesn't define what "neutral" position is being punished. Did the person vote? Did they walk in a peace march? Have dinner with the local Mayor? Or is this yet another example of how someone can be DF'd over something so vague, that any JC could put their own spin on it.

    What a pathetic joke.

It doesn't matter. 1 John 2:19 is their basis for doing anything they want.

I knew someone who was Counselled™ by an Elder™ for wearing a jacket made of camouflage style fabric, saying it promoted the military. The guy was someone who liked taking nature walks to take photographs of birds and wildlife.
