Did you get offended when people would refer to you as 'a jehovah witness'?

My mom's cousin used to call us Jehovies or Jehovie Rollers. A guy I know called JWs Jehovah's Kenievels, like Eval Kenievel. But I think that people who call JWs Jehovah Witness are just not aware they're saying it wrong. It's kinda like when people refer to me as an Electronic Technician rather than an Electronics Technician. I tell them that if I were an electronic technician, they would have to put new batteries in me every morning. They still don't get it.

I heard the terms jehovahs and jehovites being used. After I began having issues with them I no longer cared how they were called.

Not really, I never used to bother correcting them either.

I'd be really pi**ed off if anyone referred to me as a jw nowadays though,
    and would certainly correct them.

I used to laugh my a$$ off when my friends would say "Jehovs!" I swear it was the funniest thing ever to listen t them tell as they tried to scramble away off of street corners or turn they tvs off when they came by.

God, now I find myself doing the same thing.

Yes, I thought they were just plain stupid. Even worse, people who were already JWs would call it that.

I used to have an acquaintance years ago who would sarcastically ask me 'how are things with the Jehovahs'. I would answer that the 'witnesses were just fine'.

It did not offend me, but it bugged me.

I've known witnesses who say that. I wanted to slap them and say: "See what happens when you're homeschooled?"

My friend called them the "Jahs", which had a bit of old SNL "land shark" humor (remember the episode when they claimed to be a JW?)

You are lucky while in "service" what us "worldly" people said once the door slammed shut. "Get a life" was one of the phrases that was polite.

I don't want to annoy "witnesses" , but imagine if athiests wandered around and started on the evils of religion at your doorstep.

For those of you that have stopped this mind melting activity, I am glad you realized what a complete waste of time it was. Good on ya!
