I guess there is a difference between offering and forcing the two are opposing to one another

offering is much more compassionate and empathic

It's been done in a number of places, Germany, the Soviet Union, Cambodia, Aganistan under the Taliban, among others. It goes by various names although "re-education camp" seems to be popular. Opinions as to the results vary depending on who you talk to. Or if they can talk.

previously posted by the host of this thread:
Species will die out without reproduction and therefore homosexuality is an illness or aberration the same as Downs syndrome. .... if your child had Downs Syndrome and there was a cure most if not all people would take the cure. Now if your child had the genetic makeup to become homosexual and there was a 'cure' available would that be the same thing?

would anyone consider this a "narrow-minded statement". Who really needs the cure here?

    Hi

With regard to your quote Tula I would have to agree with you. As you quote it it does look bad . However, here's the link to the topic / quote and I hope that those who are able can see the issue I was trying to raise and not assume that they know what I am personally thinking. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/142934/1.ashx

Hope that works I'm not too good on this computer lark

    Thanks

I don't think doctors could keep this cure in stock.

    - What is the opposite of narrow-mindedness and ignorance?

Open-mindedness [open to consider and understand other points of view] and knowledge [from education].

So the cure is readily available already, but I wouldn't force it on anyone.

I would recommend it to be advocated by the governments (through schools/education) and parents of any country, though.

But even with a universal greater willingness to see and understand other points of view, and added knowledge from education, people wouldn't necessarily agree on every subject.

The same education could be used or understood differently, and even after considering other points of view, people may still hold to the views they initially had.

So we're just gonna have to live together. But it could be a healthy exercise - for all of us.

Actually, there is no reason to force anyone to take such a cure. The best way to "force" everyone to cure their narrow minded ignorance is the free market. When they can no longer get jobs that keep them afloat, when they take away the food stamps for those that are willfully lazy and dishonest, when they have a hard time finding window washing jobs because of the invention of self-cleaning windows that clean themselves every time it rains or even a light breeze blows, then they will either have to take the cure or die off.
