    Wha Happened-

Where are you from in CA- I lived in Mendo and Humboldt counties... Most californians on this board seem to be from SoCal or maybe the bay area.

Also, Shawn I think is from CA too- northern??

You can get phenols from dark grape juice if you don't like or drink red wine. They are powerful anti-oxidants found in dark skinned berries and protect and treat alot of health problems. Billberries have the highest concentrations and blueberries are close behind.

In the US the highest rate of heart disease and stroke is in The bible belt where the southern baptist's don't drink. It is compounded by a very high transfatty diet. In contrast the French who have a high fat diet and far less heart disease most likely due to the amount of wine they consume per person ech day. It's called the French paradox. When cholesterol oxidizes it becomes sticky and more likely to attach onto an artery.

Kudra, I'm from Los Angeles. We visit wine country at least yearly. Usually we'll stay in Mill Valley and make the drive up from there everyday. We have our favorite wineries but we always try new ones

Wine is good. Once a year I make my own from all kinds of fruit out of the garden.

I don't know why, (maybe 'cause I'm a man) lol (seems men like beer more than women), but I like beer better.

Gonna start on a new batch soon. Anyone care to join me for a good glass of beer when it's done?

    Should be done around Christmas.

I only have a little bit of wine left. It never has time to be bottled. Everyone comes here and :"please can I have some wine?"

real winers. Everyone says that this wine gives you a good feeling in your heart. Don't ask,, but they do .

Flipper, Chardonnay is the king of white wines, it is not a red wine so it doesn't count as being beneficial to the heart and arteries, it is the red varieties that count.

The French paradox is also that the areas of France that consume more fat and cholesterol than others have even lower rates of heart disease.

At the end of the day it is trans fats rather than saturated fats and cholesterol that cause the problem.

Thanks for all your responses. Going for more tests. Could of been born with it. Heart murmur / aortic stenosis. Going to find out just how narrow the valve is and take it from there. I'm 62 and asymtomatic. Doctors don't like to do anything until you have symtoms.
