not only are you better off alive, you need to have a life. While you take care of your mother, what are you doing for yourself? Friends, education, job? Your poor mother won't live forever, and you need to prepare to have a life of your own. You'll be glad later on if you take the high road as far as your mother is concerned, but also carve out a life for yourself. Best wishes for your future!

Matt,
Sorry to hear you didn't get what you needed from your mom, then or now. It would of meant so much to you if she could of listened to what you were saying and apologized for putting you through all the JW crap. How sad that you were disfellowshipped for being a 13 year old boy who was struggling with your sexual identity. You needed understanding and acceptance. I don't think your mom meant that you would be better off dead because she doesn't love you, it's the religion speaking. How sad. -

One thing you will never regret is treating your mother with compassion and kindness: assisting as you can. I do not have a comment on your sexuality or your religious perspective: I do believe we should act and speak in a way that does not lay the basis for later regrets.
Your mom is your mom. Love her, assist her, and try have empathy for her. Set the example in proper family behaviors.
My take,

A gay atheist at 13. I'm 20 and just easing into my gay and agnosticism.
*bows*
I wish I had *known* more about myself and actually liked myelf back then at 13... I wasn't much for thinking, a follower in every since in the truth and around other kids. You gots some balls Matt.
I'm really sorry about your situation and I can't imagine taking are of an ill parent and having to deal with barriers like my sexuality. You are really amazing to put up with that- hell way stronger than me.
I agree with what somebody already stated above; you have to understand that when she says hateful things that its the religion talking. And if its not the religion then at times its her guilt or anger for not havng control over a situation she might blame herself for. so continue to love her but also... try to have a life separate from her as well 'cause that can be poison if you don't have an outlet of some kind.

Hi Matt welcome to JWD.
Disfellowshipped at 13 for being gay and atheist and your mum has MS - I'm speechless at the cruel selfish spirit the WBTS has trained its elders to display and they don't see it
