Tell me the last time a JW went into a public library and took out a non-fiction book????

I am curious; what is your goal? I think if you're just trying to get a little revenge as part of your own therapy, go for it--it's a great way to do that.

Or is your goal to get current jws to engage in independent thinking? If so, IMO, this is definitely not the best way to go about it. Leaving what they see as a demonic item inside their spiritual house will strengthen their belief that they are being persecuted by Satan, who targets only jws because they are the one and only true religion, no? Then the outcome will be the opposite of your goal.

If you want them to read counter-cult info, a book is too big, and one from the most infamous apostate in history is about the least likely item to get read.

A 1-page flyer would be better with 1-2 points on the same subject, taken from their own literature so they can look it up--no opinions on it--that way it's not apostate material. If you're targeting people who are AT meetings, then if you want them to start thinking, you have to take a baby step!

Plus leaving it at the KH is not the way to get them to read it. How about mailing it to their house where they could potentially read it without being observed by the elders and informants?

Not trying to be a jerk here, just trying to help. Often it is helpful to bounce ideas off each other.

How about printing the following things on a piece of paper and mailing it to them (info courtesy of jwfacts):

It's good to come up with anti WTS ideas but in this case I don't think it will achieve anything they will soon find the book and throw it away. And in a public JW place with so many eyes watching no one would dare take "apostate" literature.

The chances of a JW taking it to read it are negligible.

Sadly a lot of time and effort went into sending my parents CofC. I had someone anoonymously send it to them with a personally written note and a five dollar bill saying this book was sent by someone that cares for you very much. If you are not interested please use the five dollars to return it.

Years later, in one of our very few phone conversations, my dad said, did you send us that book? I said, What book? He said, I threw it away...it was written by apostates. I said how do you know did you read it? He said of course not, it was written by apostates. I said how do you know it was written by apostates if you didn't read it?

As a former librarian, I can tell you that local Jw's often peruse the the reigion section and STEAL copies of COC or other anti-jw books, just to keep them out of the hands of the public - there brand of theocratic warefare! At my last position we lost six copies of COC due to theft. Also, David Reed's books were a close second.
