Posters, readers, and lurkers of this site know that the Watchtower Society does not know

the meaning of "soon", "near", "very soon", "very near", "just on the horizon", "just around the

corner", etc. Well the Watchtower study Sunday added a word to the list that I have not seen used

to describe how close we are to the end. On page 15 under the topic "A New World of Justice" in paragraph 13

it talks about when Jehovah destroys this unjust system of things. Paragraph 14 asks "can

you see yousefl living under that just rulership? (God's Kingdom) Paragraph 17 talks about

Satan and his followers will soon come against Jehovah's worshipers. Paragraph 18 talks about

the attack of Satan and his hordes on Jehovah's servants. Now to the point. The end of paragraph 18

says "What amazing, thrilling events are immediately ahead of us!" Notice the word IMMEDIATELY.

The problem with the WTBTS is they don't have a dictionary. Don't they know what immediately means?

Are they trying to work up the troops into a frenzy? To illustrate. If you are sick and you call your

doctors office for an appointment and the nurse says that you can come to the office immediately

do you say OK I will be there in 10 years. Or how about "I will be there in 6 months, or I will

be there in a week. What does the nurse mean by immediately? If you have a bottle of pills

and the label says that if you take more than 10 pills at at one time that you will die immediately.

Can you take 10 pills and say well I got 10 more years before I die, or I got 6 months before I die,

or I got another week before I die. You get my point. Will someone please send to the writing

department of the WTBTS a dictionary?

I'll get right on that TB TS!

    Immediately, in fact.

It should get there sometime exactly between now and never.

But I promise you this, even if its arrival should be delayed, it will not be late!

    Great post!

That is very true! I guess the followers need a dictionary too. I like your reasoning on this!

You know that old saying "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it"?

THAT, therefore, we have immediately ahead of us the most momentous period in the history of mankind; the hour of the execution of God’s righteous judgment is about to strike, and we are in the day of decision.

1963 District convention resolution (ie over 44 years ago). This phrase was quite regularly used in the 70's and early 80's - seems to be making a bit of a comeback now.

    As well it should!

Are we not closer today than we were back then?

The word choice is appropriate and most welcome!

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. The term, "Immediately" signifies once again, a time frame. They still don't get it in their heads that GOD has NOT given us any dates. Aren't we glad we are out of there? What took us all so long. GRRR!

I'm happy that they used the word ''immediately''

If armegeddon comes in a week, that would pass as ''immediately'',

or even next month, that would pass as ''immediately''.

But after that, of course, armegeddon will STILL NOT BE HERE

It's just another unfufilled prophesy from the watchtower

The word "immediately" is defined as sometime adjacent to the present, which is now. That means that it is going to come before anything else--the word suggests top priority.

If Armageddon was supposed to be "immediately ahead" back in the 1960s, then why did the 1970s come up between "immediately ahead" and Armageddon? Not only did the 1970s come, but so did the 1980s, the 1990s, and we are deep in the 2000s decade. That is NOT my idea of "immediately ahead". Perhaps a dictionary would be in order, but I am afraid they already have one. That is, one that they themselves wrote up to redefine words to fit their doctrines and to keep people from setting them straight.
