THE WEEK magazine (Oct. 5th, 07 Issue) in quoting THE WASHINGTON POST makes this comment.............

Only 6% of people older than 60 say they do not believe in God.........but among
those ages 18 to 22, one in four (25%) say they are atheists.

I don't know but wonder about the figures of those from 22 to 60? And, I also wonder about the question....Does God believe in atheists?

If there is a God, he'd have no doubt that there are atheists -- he sees them every day. No need for "belief".

At the atheist meetings I attend, I see a cross-section of ages usually starting from 30 on up to 75. It's encouraging to see that younger people are thinking independently about God and the supernatural, and I hope they keep such broad-mindedness as they grow older.

Gopher, I'm interested in "atheist meetings". How did you come across one?

    Bluesapphire,

I first heard about the group on our local "Air America" radio affiliate. I then went to their website www.mnatheists.org and learned more about their monthly meetings.

At the banquet I attended on Saturday evening, I would say that the majority of the participants were between that ages of 30-50. The youngest person in the room was 25 and I would say, judging on appearances, that the oldest was probably 55. And let me tell you something ladies, there are some damn fine looking atheist men!!!

In relation to the first post on this thread, there are young people who are atheists / humanists / freethinkers.

At the University of Minnesota an active group regularly meets under the name College Atheists and Secular Humanists (C.A.S.H.).
