QFR: New light on Annointed? No more Holy Spirit than the rest of us?

Question for all of those in the know:

I've been getting snipits of info on some threads concerning some possible "New Light" that was supposedly in a recent Questions From Readers. From what I could briefly gather, it states that the Annointed don't have any more "Holy Spirit" inside them than do the Great Crowd. Did I hear that right? I mean, that is just shocking to me, considering I have always been taught the following:

    - The Annointed are spiritual brothers of Christ Jesus, and will reign as Kings over the earth in the New Order. (New Order - that's old school talk for The New System)

    - The Bible was REALLY written for the 144,000 (Annointed) ONLY, and only THEY can read and interpret it correctly.

    - Only the Annointed truly have the pouring out of the Holy Spirit, and can therefor pertake of the sacred emblems as Jesus directed. Others may be drawn or directed by the Holy Spirit, but only the Annointed have the Holy Spirit "in them", or what some call "Born Again."

If they don't have any more Holy Spirit than the rest of us, then how can the FDS claim to be channels of God, true interpreters of The Bible, etc??? How can they claim to be the only pertakers of the emblems? If you take away their having the special distinction and knowledge, then to me it ALL is a house of cards. If the statement is true, I think that is real shocker to anyone paying attention. I mean, you'd think you'd have to have alot of Holy Spirit IN YOU to somehow "feel" you were a spiritual brother of Christ, don't you?

Can someone please scan and post this QFR if it is indeed true? I am really interested in this.

Your objections to their "new light" (which really was the standard for years, but not in print so clearly)
are valid. Nonetheless, there it is.

Expect this to be just one step toward elevating the Governing Body alone to the status of FDS.
That's the reality anyway. They will see how r&f responded to the QFR and decide when to further
demote the remnant and isolate and elevate the GB.

    Simple, Wing Commander!

Because THEY SAY that they are the chosen channel.

For instance, in the September, 2002 Our Kingdom Ministry, it says, "Bear in mind that our heavenly Father has an appointed channel of communication, "the faithful and discreet slave." That "slave" has the responsibility to determine what information is made available to the household of faith, as well as "the proper time" for it to be dispensed. This spiritual food is available only through the theocratic organization. We should always look to God's appointed channel for reliable information."

So as you can see, they have plainly proven that they are God's one, true, chosen channel.

The FDS does not really make this claim. I have been thinking a lot about that article and the FDS lately and if you get right down to it, it is the GB that SAYS the FDS is that channel. Has anyone EVER heard of an instance where all the anointed on earth (the FDS) are consulted on a topic, and they get together and pray, or at least all vote somehow on the matter, and a decision is reached and the answer published in the WT???????

I dare say not. The GB just does this on their own, and even getting to be a GB is not a decision the the FDS makes together.

    what a load of........oompa

You're right, OTWO. If you pay close attention, they always put their "feelers" out several months before

coming out with explicit "New Light". That whole remnant doctrine is on the verge of getting a overhaul, imo.

I think some of the "annointed" may be speaking out a little more than usual. I think over the last few years

some of the younger ones may be "hearing the call" and claiming to be of the annointed.l It's probably making

the GB quite nervous. The younger ones aren't quite as mealy mouthed, I'll bet. And the GB can't risk losing

    any of their exclusive power.

    Questions From Readers

Can we say that God’s servants today who have the earthly hope have as much of God’s spirit as do spirit-anointed Christians? This question is not a new one. This same matter was addressed in "Questions From Readers" in TheWatchtower of April 15, 1952. Many have become Witnesses since then, so we can consider the question and in the process review what that earlier material said.

Fundamentally, the answer is, yes, faithful brothers and sisters of the other sheep class can share equally with anointed ones in receiving God’s holy spirit.—John 10:16.

This, of course, does not mean that the spirit operates in the same way on all individuals. Think back to faithful servants in pre-Christian times, who certainly received God’s spirit. With power from the spirit, some of them slew ferocious beasts, cured the sick, even raised the dead. And they needed the spirit to write inspired books of the Bible. (Judges 13:24, 25; 14:5, 6; 1 Kings 17:17-24; 2 Kings 4:17-37; 5:1-14) TheWatchtower said: "Though not of the anointed class, they were filled with holy spirit."

From another angle, consider men and women in the first century who were anointed with holy spirit, becoming spiritual sons of God with the heavenly hope. All had been anointed, but that does not mean that the spirit thereafter operated in the same way on all of them. That is clear from 1 Corinthians chapter 12. There the apostle Paul discussed gifts of the spirit. We read in verses 8, 9, and 11: "To one there is given through the spirit speech of wisdom, to another speech of knowledge according to the same spirit, to another faith by the same spirit, to another gifts of healings by that one spirit. . . . But all these operations the one and the same spirit performs, making a distribution to each one respectively just as it wills."

Significantly, not all anointed ones back then had miraculous gifts of the spirit. In 1 Corinthians chapter 14, Paul mentioned a congregation meeting in which one had the gift of tongues, but no one present had the gift of translation. Nonetheless, at some earlier point, each one of them had experienced anointing with spirit. Would it be reasonable to say that the brother having the gift of tongues had more of the spirit than others present? No. Those other anointed ones were not disadvantaged, as if unable to understand the Bible as well as that one or unable to face trials as well. The spirit operated in a special way on the brother who could speak in tongues. Still, he and they needed to stay close to Jehovah and to "keep getting filled with spirit," as Paul wrote.—Ephesians 5:18.

Regarding those of the remnant today, they certainly have received God’s spirit. At one point it operated on them in a special way—at the time when they were anointed and adopted as spiritual sons. Thereafter they "keep getting filled with spirit," having its help when they seek to understand the Bible more clearly, take the lead in the preaching work, or face tests—personal or organizational.

Members of the "other sheep," though not having had the experience of being anointed, in other respects do receive holy spirit. TheWatchtower of April 15, 1952, observed:

"The ‘other sheep’ today perform the same preaching work as the remnant, under the same trying conditions, and manifest the same faithfulness and integrity. They feed at the same spiritual table, eating the same food, absorbing the same truths. Being of the earthly class, with earthly hopes and a keen interest in earthly things, they might interest themselves more in scriptures relating to earthly conditions in the new world; whereas the anointed remnant, with heavenly hopes and strong personal interest in the things of the spirit, might study more diligently those things in God’s Word. . . . Yet the fact remains that the same truths and the same understanding are available to both classes, and it is just how the individuals apply themselves in study that determines the comprehension of heavenly and earthly things they acquire. The Lord’s spirit is available in equal portions to both classes, and knowledge and understanding are offered equally to both, with equal opportunities for absorbing it."

It would be a big change in their doctrine if they now say that the so called great crowd also have as much Holy Spirit, it would be strange since supposedly they are not anointed with the Holy Spirit. It appears that they have totally lost it since Biblically those not in communion with the Christ (as the great crowd for example) can't have the Spirit.

Not that the GB (as the FDS) ever had communion with the Christ or know what it means but it goes to show that their doctrines are totally absurd.

As far as I know, the anointed never had any special insights...some people in the organization thought this, but I never read anything about their special powers. The only difference was their hope.

Brooklyn has long differentiated between those CLAIMING to be anointed versus those on the Governing Body of whome there 'can be no doubt of their status.'

It is also a way to keep those upstart female 'chosen ones' from trying to teach while still alive on earth. They only have special status once they die and actually sit with Christ in the heavens. (gawd it is tough to type this crap and not throw up a little)

It is only the GB and the Nethinem class that have any special insights per the WTBS. Everyone else must be in subjection to them.
