I had an idea today while listening to the radio. I know many people have been "awakened" in a sense by discovering the problems in the org about pedophiles and how it has been covered up. I knew nothing at all about it when I first came here. Peoples experiences are very different as to what got them really thinking about things, but the more info that is out there, the better chance there is to reach someone.

Something that would really educate masses is if someone in major media would make it a concern. Preferrably Oprah of course, as she makes the world turn! Has anyone tried contacting major media or personalities with Barbaras CD by letter? Has anyone sent other books or other letters to media type?

I ask because Shawn Hannidy has been advertising on the radio as doing a book signing in a nearby city. I don't care for him much, but he certainly has passion and is on radio for hours a day, plus has a show or two on tv. I think he would give me a minute or two at a book signing as they are usually in a pretty good mood. I thought it might be easy to hand him the cd with a brief note about my concern and how it is similar to the Catholic (well coverd) problem. Of course anyone could do this at any book signing of an author of your choice.

I'm not that much a Sean Hannity fan either but I think it's worth a try. I was talking with my sister - not a jw - just a little while ago and mentioned the out of court settlements that of course she never heard of. She asked me how come no one tries to get this publicized. I told her there are people doing just that but that the public and media just see the WT as a goofy little group and don't pay much attention to them. Not even in this respect.

If it is pushed on the media constantly maybe someone will take notice. You'd think that Dateline would want to do a follow-up show but maybe they don't see ratings in it.

maybe you might want to hold off on this... it seems to me another poster on the forum who is close to Barbara asked us to hold off on contacting the media. If I recall the post, they are working on things at their own pace in their own way. Lets see if anyone from the forum picks up on what you are suggesting... you don't want to mess with something bigger they may be working on.

You can't post a New Topic from Active Topics. The link is only available from the various sub-forums. You probably had just opened a topic in Beliefs and clicked the New Topic link that was on the page.

If you want to decide where your thread goes, use the drop-down Jump to: menu at the top of the page and select the appropriate area.

We can't "ban" anyone to post only in certain areas. As I said above, you were probably reading topics in the Adult area and clicked the New Topic link, which automatically posts your thread in the same area.

I am not free to comment as to the specifics. I agree that something as big as Hannity would be wonderful.

I do hope that clips will be available on Youtube when it happens. [Hint to those savvy enough to get that done somehow.]

Great news. Can you imagine if Oprah would "endorse" a reality book on JW's or even interview
Barbara? Whenever she does this sales and interest go through the roof! I am not starting a rumor! This is just a wild hope and observation.

I was not aware of her going on Rush.

The coverage I am speaking of should happen pretty soon. The timing was still in the air last I knew.

You must have been out of pocket for a few days. There's been a lively thread about Rush & the US Senate.

Rushed used the words "phony soldier". The left thinks Rush meant those soldier who disagreed with the war were phony. The Congress is all in a tizzy, and 47 or so Senators are writing a letter to Rush's employer - trying to get hiim off the air. Rush said that he was using a term coined by ABC, aired 2 days prior to Rush's using it, that referred to people who masquaraded as soldiers in order to get veteran benefits and/or media attention.

In short - Barbara on Rush was a joke. I don't think Rush is into the JWs. He'd be like - "Whatever, get them off my doorstep."

This sounds like BIG NEWS. Should we start a new thread, or is it premature since no one knows when it will air?

Loren Green is the person who covers religious topics on Fox. It might be easier to get through to her first. Some of the big tv personalities have staff that you have to go through.
