they have no problem with celebrating wedding anniversaries,
(1 Kings 3:1) 3
And Sol´o·mon proceeded to form a marriage alliance with Phar´aoh the king of Egypt and to take Phar´aoh’s daughter and bring her to the City of David, until he finished building his own house and the house of Jehovah and Jerusalem’s wall all around.
so look what pharoah - another pagan king gave to his daughter as a wedding present
(1 Kings 9:16) 16 (Phar´aoh the king of Egypt himself had come up and then captured Ge´zer and burned it with fire, and the Ca´naan·ites dwelling in the city he had killed. So he gave it as a parting gift to his daughter, the wife of Sol´o·mon.)
yup he slaughtered a whole city...
so based on this reasoning no jws should give gifts as wedding presents...although they can still attend and drink wine..cos jesus did.
so lets recap..birthdays not allowed cos 2 'pagan' kings had one person each executed.
gifts at child birth allowable even tho herod had all boys 2 and under destroyed
gifts at weddings allowed although pharoah wiped out a whole city as a wedding present.
seems fair
