Brothers in arms was the very first CD I ever bought along with my Technics CD player

Me too. February of 1986 to be exact. The CD player, though was one of those Sony models rebadged by Radio Shack. I was all of 13 years old, and yes, I spent all of my hard earned paper route dollars on that thing.

Yes, I too am a big fan of Knophler and Dire Staits.

I have to go with Money For Nothing as the best Dire Straits song ever.

i have to go with money for nothing as their worst song ever.

brothers in arms is their best by a country mile

(tis the same kind of comparison with pink floyd's money and shine on you crazy diamond)

Suprisingly enough Technics do make a couple of decent CD players. The best is the Technics SL P1300 which is a broadcast quality CD player and weighs in a 35lbs in weight. Superbly built. I have two that I use regularly in my systems and they sing like angels.

You can sometimes find them going on ebay for around $200.00. They retailed at $2,800 when they were in production. Well worth hunting out.

Brothers in Arms was a great album, although "On Every Street " their last effort as a group together was great too ! Personally, one of my favorite Dire Straits songs is off the " Communique " album, called " once Upon a Time in the West ". Great song ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper" Lady Writer" is another good song.
