I know how you feel, in my house all the holidays were great fun. Not with a jw in the house, they carry a black cloud around them on any holiday just to try to make the rest of us feel as shitty as themselves. Only if we allow them to though! Have to find new ways to make the days special with or without them, ignore them, maybe they will go away.

((Hugs)) That sucks, sorry to hear it. Unfortunately, this may be the case for many if not all of the years of your marriage. He's a brainwashed dub as you said, he will never buy you xmas presents without guilt, if he does at all. He won't remember important dates because he's been trained NOT to. You have my deepest sympathy, you aren't in an easy spot, married to someone you love yet can't share all those important moments with him.
He did come home with candy and flowers one year for Valentines' Day...ooooooooo..wonder what his parents or family would have said. Now I understand why Anniversaries are so important to them, it's all they've got.

Reminding him often as it's coming up sounds like a good idea. It's sort of like retraining him. I have been out of the wt for 10 yrs, and most holidays/celebrations pass by me, without me noticing, unless somebody tells me. Not that i couldn't get into those things. The idea just doesn't exist, for me. I would need to experience them a few times.
