What were your excuses for not going to the meetings?
Ours were the usual ones, boredom, illness or weather, yepp even the tiny snow flurries were a good excuse to stay home. *heehee*

Having to work and earn a living like a normal human being
Virtually ANY sporting event! Even curling!
I didn't want to pretend anymore, how happy we were supposed to be.
The kingdom hall smelled moldy and it was damp inside.
Sorry guys that you couldn't use this one.....Cramps!
MOLDY & DAMP? Yeah.....most of them were with no windows for proper ventilation. We couldn't even have real live flowers for the decor. So much for a paradise atmosphere. *heehee* Alot of people suffered from allergies as a result as well.

I told an elder lately that my family and I are turning towards a dominical worshipping practice, as if we were going to church.
I was very happy in 1976, after Armegedon to have to take a job working afternoons to support my family in the new order and not being able to attend the meetings.
I used all the standard excuses - sick, tired, working late, etc. My ex usually thought I was full of crap. Then one day she asked me if I was going to the meeting and I said, "I can't be bothered". For the first time she had no comeback.
